We are seeking an Engineering Manager with a strong technical background to lead and support our Pune‑based engineering team working on Rise. This role requires a leader who can drive technical excellence, manage workloads, ensure productivity, and foster a collaborative and innovative environment. The Engineering Manager will work closely with the Director of Engineering in Pune and cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment and successful project execution, spending roughly 30‑50% of your time on architecture, code reviews, and critical‑path coding while dedicating the rest to mentoring your team and advancing engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: manage and grow a team of 3–5 engineers, conduct regular 1:1s, provide career coaching, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Technical Execution: drive delivery of complex features from technical design through production support, serve as the “unblocker” for the team, and make pragmatic trade‑offs between speed and quality.
- Hands‑on Development: contribute directly to the codebase (RoR/React), especially during early stages or for high‑stakes architectural shifts, and lead by example in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code.
- Architecture & Standards: define the technical roadmap and drive architectural decisions for scalable SaaS solutions, upholding high standards for testing (RSpec/Jest), CI/CD, and security best practices.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: partner closely with Product and Design to translate business requirements into actionable technical plans.
- Drive team engagement, performance reviews, and professional development of team members.
- Implement and improve engineering best practices and agile processes.
Qualifications
- Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2–3 years in a formal leadership or team lead capacity.
- Backend Mastery: deep proficiency in Ruby on Rails, including API design (REST and GraphQL patterns), background processing (Sidekiq and Kafka), and database optimization (MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch).
- Frontend Expertise: strong experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems, including state management (Redux/Context) and responsive UI design.
- System Design: proven track record of building and scaling production‑grade applications on cloud infrastructure (AWS).
Process Knowledge
- Expert in Agile/Scrum methodologies, sprint planning, and modern DevOps/CI‑CD workflows.
- Technical background with hands‑on programming experience and a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with global stakeholders.
- Experience in the real‑estate tech or related industries is a plus.
- Experience in facilitating technical design and planning workshops.
- Familiarity with creating, documenting, and maintaining requirements in tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Strong collaboration skills with Product Managers and technical teams.
- Strong problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
