Job summary

MoxiWorks, a leading real estate AI marketing platform, is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead a growing Pune engineering org. Reporting to the SVP of Engineering in the USA, you will own delivery, quality, and health of multiple squads and help scale the team with hiring and leadership development.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead a significant and growing portion of our high-performing Pune engineering organization. Reporting into the SVP of Engineering in the USA, you will own the delivery, quality, and health of at least three engineering squads, with scope expected to grow as the organization expands. You will be the primary engineering point of contact for your area during Indian business hours, partner closely with peer Engineering Directors to keep standards and execution consistent across the Pune site and play a central role in scaling the team through hiring and developing strong engineering leaders.

What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)

• Your squads deliver predictably, with clear roadmaps, healthy sprint execution, and on time, high quality releases.
• You have built and strengthened the Engineering Manager and tech lead layer so teams can scale without bottlenecking on you.
• Hiring targets for your area are met with a strong bar, and new engineers are onboarded and productive quickly.
• Team health is strong, low regretted attrition, high engagement, and clear growth paths for your people.
• Engineering standards, agile practices, and quality metrics are consistent with those of peer Directors across the Pune site.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery & execution

• Own the workload, delivery, and performance of 3+ engineering squads, ensuring high quality, timely delivery of features and initiatives.
• Ensure teams run effective agile ceremonies — stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives and continuously improve engineering best practices.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for technical and operational issues in your area during Indian business hours, including production incidents and reliability.

Technical leadership

• Provide technical direction to Engineering Managers, tech leads, and engineers, and facilitate technical design and planning for major initiatives.
• Ensure sound architecture, code quality, security, and operational excellence across your squads.

People & organization

• Build and grow the team — own hiring, onboarding, retention, and the development of a strong Engineering Manager layer as your scope expands.
• Drive performance reviews, career growth, and engagement, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, ownership, and innovation.

Cross-functional & peer collaboration

• Partner with peer Engineering Directors to maintain consistent engineering standards, hiring bars, agile practices, and coordinated execution across shared dependencies.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders across time zones to align priorities and ensure smooth communication with US-based stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years in software development, including 5+ years leading engineering teams — ideally leading through an Engineering Manager layer at a span of 20+ engineers.
• Proven experience building and scaling distributed or remote engineering teams, including hiring and developing engineering managers.
• Strong technical background with hands-on programming experience and a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience leading teams that build on modern web stacks; familiarity with Ruby on Rails and React is a strong plus.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with global stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience with Rails and React, 5+ years preferred.

Preferred

• Experience in real estate technology or a related industry.
• Experience facilitating technical design and planning workshops.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence for requirements and documentation.
