Job summary

Prudential plc is seeking a senior software engineering lead to design, develop, and support digital customer, sales and finance platforms. You will collaborate with business units and IT teams to deliver cutting-edge technology enabling Prudential Singapore’s digital capabilities.

You will lead a team of engineers, drive architecture, governance, and data integration efforts while mentoring juniors and ensuring delivery aligns with IT policies and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• 8+ years designing, developing and supporting applications.
• Experience leading an application development team and Agile software development.
• Strong React/Redux and mobile app development experience.

In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers to design, develop and provide support for various digital customer, sales and finance platforms and systems. As part of this dynamic role you will work closely with business units and other IT teams to deliver leading edge technology to enable digital capabilities of Prudential Singapore.

Key Responsibilites

• Requirements and manage expectations.


• Translate business requirements into well-architected solutions leveraging the new and existing technology stacks.


• Provide oversight and governance on all Platform projects


• Participate and facilitate technical discussions with team as well as all other stakeholders


• Define and evolve technical standards and processes for both the platform and the team


• Develops data integration, migration and deployment strategies


• Build relationships with / between key internal and external stakeholders


• Manages and mentors junior team members


• Deliver applications in accordance to relevant IT policies and procedures


• Lead projects, resolve new/complex problems which may impact the application


• Responsible for the technical training & development of the team


• Manages stakeholders, including influencing and persuading, as part of applications delivery and support.

Who We Are Looking For

• Expertise in Mobile App development platform and ecosystems.


• Strong sense and experience on SOLID principles


• Strong culture on Software Testing (Unit Test, TDD, BDD)


• Exposure to Front End or full-stack software development experience


• Experience and affinity with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP/eXtreme Programming)


• Complexity estimation / planning poker


• Willingness to do the right thing, keep it simple


• Strong background in design/development of React/Redux based systems


• Strong understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning, engineering best practices, and deployment methodologies


• Experience with:


• TDD/BDD


• JavaScript - React and RN


• Java 8+


• RESTful APIs, Vertex REST API and Microservices development (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, etc.)


• RDBMS, SQL, NoSQL – Couchbase, MongoDB


• Kafka


• Event based systems / Functional Reactive development / Event Streams


• Code Version Control tools (git, bitbucket)


• Cloud platform (Azure, AKS, OpenShift)


• DevOps (CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker, K8s, etc.)


• Knowledge on Salesforce is a plus


• Knowledge of data integration tools and experience integrating Salesforce with different business systems (ETL, marketing automation, reporting, etc.)


• Strong understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning best practices, and deployment methodologies.


• Expert level experience defining the system architecture landscape, identifying gaps between current and desired end-states, and delivering a comprehensive solution that will enable achievement of the desired business outcomes


• Strong background in design/development of mobile apps, or complete software product lifecycle exposure


• Comfortable with Agile/iterative project management methodologies
