Role & responsibilities

• Prepare and modify CMM programs as required for new and existing components.
• Operate CMM for dimensional inspection of components as per approved drawings and specifications.
• Perform first-off, in-process, final, and layout inspections using CMM.
• Measure critical dimensions and GD&T characteristics such as position, profile, flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity, and concentricity.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications.
• Prepare CMM inspection reports and share the results with the departments concerned.
• Identify NG dimensions and communicate inspection findings to Quality, Production, and Engineering teams.
• Perform process audits and product audits to ensure compliance with defined standards, procedures, and customer requirements.
• Support investigation of dimensional issues and customer complaints through CMM measurement and analysis.
• Handle customer complaints and support preparation and submission of 8D reports and CAPA.
• Perform part-to-part comparison and dimensional analysis whenever required.
• Maintain CMM programs, inspection reports, and measurement records with proper traceability.
• Ensure proper part alignment, datum selection, fixture setup, and probe selection for accurate measurement.
• Monitor CMM machine condition and coordinate calibration and preventive maintenance activities.
• Ensure all measuring instruments are properly calibrated and available for inspection.
• Maintain cleanliness, discipline, and proper housekeeping in the CMM inspection area.
• Plan and prioritize daily CMM inspection activities based on production and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams for inspection requirements.
• Perform Customer PPAP, layout inspection, and customer-specific dimensional requirements.
• Train and guide team members on CMM operation, measurement techniques, and drawing interpretation.
• Ensure all inspection activities are completed accurately and within the required timeline.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of CMM operation and programming.
• Good understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of CMM software such as PC-DMIS or equivalent software.
• Knowledge of basic measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Contour Tracer Machine, etc.
• Basic knowledge of MSA and Gauge R&R.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel and inspection report preparation.

Experience & Educational Qualification

• 6 years of relevant experience after Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 3 years of relevant experience after B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience in Engineering Drawings, GD&T Requirements, Customer Specifications, CMM Inspection, Dimensional Inspection Report, and Quality Control, preferably in the automotive/manufacturing industry.
