Job summary

Kothari Petrochemicals in Chennai, India seeks a Project Engineer to support on-site execution of small revamps, debottlenecking and infrastructure improvements.

You will prepare P&IDs, layouts, BOQs and coordinate with vendors while ensuring EHS compliance and timely handovers.

Qualifications

  • BE in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in project execution, plant revamp, debottlenecking, or maintenance projects in process/manufacturing industries.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, P&ID preparation, engineering drawings, and 3D modelling.
  • DPT Level 2 Certification is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of MOC, engineering documentation, project coordination, and EHS practices.
  • Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Manager Projects in execution of small revamp, debottlenecking, and infrastructure improvement jobs.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, P&IDs, layout modifications, and BOQs for projects and MOC cases.
  • Participate in the MOC workflow initiate documentation, perform preliminary risk assessment, and coordinate approval process.
  • Support project planning through detailed activity scheduling, resource planning, and milestone tracking.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for site work execution, material delivery, and quality compliance.
  • Monitor work progress, document deviations, and escalation issues to the Manager Projects for resolution.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with EHS guidelines, SOPs, and work permit systems.
  • Support the preparation of tender specifications, bid evaluations, and technical clarifications.
  • Conduct field verification and measurements to prepare asbuilt documentation and drawing updates.
  • Participate in safety reviews (PSSR), inspections, and commissioning activities as required.
  • Maintain daily site activity log, status updates, and documentation trail for project records.
  • Collaborate with process, mechanical, instrumentation, civil, and electrical teams for interface coordination.
  • Ensure housekeeping, safety, and quality during execution in assigned project zones.
  • Prepare closeout documents, lessons learned reports, and handover checklists post project completion.

Preferred candidate profile
