Job summary

ALTEN India in Chennai is seeking a Metallurgy/Materials Engineer to support steel mill and sheet metal projects. You will audit suppliers, drive cost reduction, and coordinate with Designers & Buyers on material development and localization.

Qualifications

• BE or Diploma with Metallurgy or related field.
• 3-5 years experience for BE candidates.
• 5-7 years experience for Diploma candidates.
• Location: Chennai (Chengalpattu).
• Employment: Full Time.

Responsibilities

• Analyse stamping and quality issues and provide solutions.
• Coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams like Designers & Buyers.
• Support new material development and localization activities.
• Perform competitor vehicle sheet metal benchmarking.
• Drive cost reduction through grade down, thickness optimisation, and material optimization.

• Experience in sheet metal and stamping industry.
• Knowledge of sheet metal testing and material evaluation.
• Drive cost reduction through grade down, thickness optimisation, Weight check, and material optimization.
• Knowledge of stamping processes such as blanking, bending, drawing, and forming.
• Analyse stamping and quality issues and provide solutions.
