Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Bengaluru is seeking a Safety Engineer to learn and build proficiency in flight safety processes, including Safety Issue Management and Safety Risk Assessment, aligned with FAA guidelines.

You will apply standard work processes, participate in Internal Safety Reviews, and own milestones for schedules and deliverables while collaborating with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement. Hybrid work location in Bengaluru.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (4+ years) or advanced degree with relevant experience.
• Strong analytical background with familiarity in engine hardware and systems.
• Familiarity with programming or extensive Excel experience (VBA), Python and MATLAB.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with leadership at various levels.
• Quick learner with the ability to propose creative solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Learn & build proficiency in flight safety processes, including Safety Issue Management, Safety Risk Assessment, customer safety guidance (FAA Guidelines).
• Understand the standard work processes, apply them as part of safety risk assessments.
• Participate in Internal Safety Review process to ensure accountability is maintained throughout the flight safety process.
• Exhibit the project ownership for the defined milestones in terms of schedules & quality of deliverables.
• Maintain flexibility to support urgent program flight safety concerns.
• Develop quantitative models blending engineering insights and statistical methods to determine required actions.
• Understands safety threshold guidance as it applies to both P&W internal and external customers; focusing on program-specific safety analysis guidance Communicates and works effectively with different organizations Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to identify continuous improvement opportunities

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (with 4+ yr experience) or Advanced degree (with 2+ yr experience) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Strong analytical background with familiarity in engine hardware, systems, technical problem solving.
• Familiarity with computer programming or extensive Microsoft Excel (VBA), Python & Matlab experience.
• Strong communication skills, including effective listening, clear written/verbal communication and experience working with various levels of leadership.
• Strong learner and provide creative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in Mechanical design, Aero-thermal, Gas turbines.
• Relevant work experience within the Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Aviation industries.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities as an integrator or within another team-oriented role.
• Ability to interface with customers (internal & external)
