Job summary

Prattwhitney in Bengaluru invites an experienced Lead Engineer - Technical Publications to join our Aerospace Documentation team. You will create, revise, and maintain manuals such as AMMs, CMMs, and I Spec-compliant content with XML/SGML, collaborating with engineers and authors to ensure accuracy and safety.

You will apply ASD-STE for global readability, use FrameMaker and Arbortext, and coordinate with PLM systems to track changes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 4–6 years in technical authoring within aerospace or related industries.
• 4+ years hands-on experience with authoring tools and structured authoring (XML/SGML).
• 4+ years in aviation documentation standards and lifecycle management.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise high-quality technical documentation such as CMM, AMM, AIPC, CMP.
• Author clear procedures including assembly, disassembly, testing and repair.
• Work with Adobe FrameMaker, Arbortext Editor, and CSDB.
• Ensure compliance with ATA100, iSpec 2200, and S1000D.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret drawings and change documents.
• Validate XML/SGML parsing errors and maintain document integrity.
• Contribute to content quality and usability improvements.
• Apply ASD-STE for global readability.
• Support illustration integration using Isodraw, 3DVIA, or CATIA.
• Manage document changes using PLM systems like Teamcenter or Ennovia.

Overview

Join our dynamic Technical Publications team where you'll collaborate closely with authors, illustrators, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality documentation that meets global aerospace standards such as ATA iSpec 2200 and S1000D. As an Associate Engineer, you will play a key role in creating, revising, and maintaining technical manuals that directly support the operational reliability and safety of aircraft systems and components.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and revise high-quality technical documentation such as:
• Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM)
• Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM)
• Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalogs (AIPC)
• Component Maintenance Publications (CMP)
• Author clear and accurate procedures including assembly, disassembly, testing, and repair.
• Work with tools like Adobe FrameMaker, Arbortext Editor, and Common Source Databases (CSDB).
• Ensure compliance with industry standards including ATA100, iSpec 2200, and S1000D.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret engineering drawings, change documents (ECNs, SBs, SILs, etc.), and incorporate updates.
• Validate and resolve XML/SGML parsing errors and maintain document integrity.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of content quality, consistency, and usability.
• Apply Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE) for global readability.
• Support illustration integration using tools like Isodraw, 3DVIA, or CATIA (optional but advantageous).
• Manage and track document changes using PLM systems like Teamcenter or Ennovia.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience: 4-6 years in technical authoring within the aerospace or related industries.
• 4+ Years of Hands-on experience with authoring tools and structured authoring (XML/SGML).
• 4+ Years of exp in aviation documentation standards and life cycle management.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to continuously learn and improve.
