Job summary

Copeland in Pune, India is seeking an Engineer II - Product Design to design compressor components and systems for HVACR. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable product solutions from concept to production.

The role requires BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and 4–5 years of experience; proficiency in Siemens NX; involvement in DFMEA, DFM&A, VAVE, and DOE; you will validate through testing and support ECN processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4–5 years in Product Design and Development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop compressor components, assemblies, and related mechanical systems from concept through production release.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, specifications, BOMs, and product documentation using Siemens NX.
• Perform engineering calculations, theoretical analysis, and design evaluations to support product development.
• Support product validation through testing, analysis, and correlation of test results with design intent.
• Participate in DFMEA, DFM&A, VAVE, and DOE activities.
• Support ECN creation, implementation, and release activities.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Systems Engineering, Testing Laboratories, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams to ensure successful product development and launch.
• Coordinate prototype builds, testing activities, and engineering investigations.
• Present technical findings and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
• Identify technical risks and support development of mitigation plans.
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for product and design issues.
• Contribute to cost reduction, productivity improvement, and product enhancement initiatives.
• Maintain engineering documentation and deliverables in accordance with standards.
• Work effectively within global engineering teams to ensure timely delivery.

Based in our Pune, India location, you will support the design, development, validation, and release of compressor components, assemblies, and systems for HVACR applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative and reliable product solutions while supporting new product development, sustaining engineering, and product improvement initiatives. You will apply engineering principles and technical expertise to solve product design challenges and contribute to successful project execution.

AS AN ENGINEER II - PRODUCT DESIGN, YOU WILL:

Product Design & Development

• Design and develop compressor components, assemblies, and related mechanical systems from concept through production release.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product documentation using Siemens NX.
• Perform engineering calculations, theoretical analysis, and design evaluations to support product development.
• Support product validation through testing, analysis, and correlation of test results with design intent.
• Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM&A), Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE), and Design of Experiments (DOE) activities.
• Support Engineering Change Notice (ECN) creation, implementation, and release activities.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Systems Engineering, Testing Laboratories, Supply Chain, and Program Management teams to ensure successful product development and launch.
• Coordinate prototype builds, testing activities, and engineering investigations.
• Participate in design reviews and present technical findings and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
• Identify technical risks and support development of mitigation plans.
• Support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for product and design-related issues.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree (BE/B.Tech) or Master’s Degree (ME/M.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience

• 4 to 5 years of experience in Product Design and Development.
• Experience in Compressors, Rotating Machinery, HVACR, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or related industries preferred.
• Experience supporting engineering projects and product development activities.
• Exposure to product lifecycle activities from concept through production release.

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Knowledge of mechanical design, thermal engineering, structural analysis, and engineering calculations.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX/UG NX, engineering drawings, GD&T, BOM management, and ECN processes.
• Understanding of product testing, design validation, and manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, casting, and assembly.
• Experience with engineering methodologies such as DFMEA, DFM&A, VAVE, DOE, and risk management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Exposure to Finite Element Analysis (FEA), statistical data analysis, MATLAB, Mathcad, or equivalent engineering tools.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
• Experience working on cross-functional and global engineering projects

ADDED ADVANTAGE:

• Knowledge of statistical data analysis, MATLAB, Mathcad, and reliability engineering.
• Experience with casting, sheet metal, and manufacturing processes.
• Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to engineers.
