Job summary

Copeland is seeking a highly skilled Thermal Engineering professional to lead technology development in refrigeration, HVAC, and rotating machinery applications. You will build and validate 1D GT‑SUITE models, conduct thermodynamic analyses, and drive design optimization for products from concept to validation.

You will collaborate across disciplines to ensure manufacturability, perform experiments, and deliver robust engineering solutions that meet project goals and timelines.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Thermal Engineering / Heat Power.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in technology development, advanced product development, compressor technology or rotating machinery applied to Refrigeration, Air Conditioning or any other applications.
  • Hands‑on experience in concept development, technology maturation, and development of innovative engineering solutions from concept to validation.
  • Strong foundation in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, structural mechanics, and mechanical design principles.
  • Very keen on Creativity and Innovation and self‑motivated to drive innovation.
  • Proficient in applying the technical understanding and design principles to the product design and should be able to correlate with actual product testing.
  • Hands‑on experience with GT‑SUITE for 1D system and performance analysis.
  • Ability to develop, calibrate, validate, and troubleshoot models for thermodynamic, fluid flow, heat transfer, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in applying analytical and data‑driven approaches to support engineering decisions and technology development.
  • Knowledge of HVAC&R systems, compressors, refrigeration cycles, engines, or other thermal‑fluid systems.
  • Understanding of model calibration, sensitivity analysis, and design optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) and data analysis methods.
  • Ability to interpret analytical results and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Proficiency in engineering calculations and system‑level performance evaluation.
  • Experience in using tools and programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, Mathcad, Excel VBA, or equivalent automation and analytical tools is preferred.
  • Good understanding of engineering fundamentals including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Engineering tools like DFMEA, VAVE, DOE is Must.
  • Project Management skills required to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to coordinate with cross functional teams to meet requirements of NPD & Improvement projects.
  • Experience in manufacturing process & ability to corelate manufacturing requirements with design is must.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Well conversant with presentation through MS tools and experience of presentation.
  • Excellent command over English language both written and verbal.
  • High on Problem Solving & Decision Making.

Responsibilities

  • Independently handle the projects from start to end with complete project ownership.
  • Develop and validate analytical, mathematical, and GT‑SUITE models.
  • Responsible to meet the project expectations,
  • Provide engineering proposals
  • Perform Design calculations (thermal, machine design & fluid mechanics) Independently
  • Verify functionality/correctness/manufacturability for new design component and product Design
  • Work with various engineering teams to execute the projects in the areas of mathematical modelling, Technology development, Advance Problem solving.
  • Conduct Design Reviews and present the work to Business Unit.
  • Coordinate with labs for proto build and performance testing.
  • Perform validation, test report analysis, and resolve performance issues.
  • Work seamlessly with cross functional teams to successfully complete the projects.
  • Responsible for project management of the projects - Project planning, scheduling, risk management to ensure that the projects are delivered on time with expected key performance indicators.
  • Contributing to developing new processes and helping to improve current process to create value and Increase quality & speed of delivery.
  • Contribute to innovation, process improvement, and engineering best practices.
  • KPIs include On time delivery, Model Validation and Correlation Accuracy, Technology Readiness Advancement, Technical Reporting, Design Effectiveness, Quality & Consistency, Innovation and Process Improvement, Communication and Collaboration, Optimization & Problem Resolution Effectiveness.

Requirement
