Control System Design Engineer – Data Centre Systems R&D
Schneider Electric is seeking a highly skilled Control System Design Engineer to design, develop, and integrate 3‑phase UPS for data centre applications.
Responsibilities
- Hands‑on experience with control of power electronics, such as PWM strategies for 3‑phase inverters, sampling of PWM‑operated converters, and control loops (current control, DC voltage control, active/reactive power control).
- Analyse and optimise performance of power converters to ensure stability, reliability, and high efficiency.
- Model, simulate, and select optimal control strategies for converters.
- Understand project milestones and mitigate technical risks in accordance with the plan.
- Support a product methodology mindset: reuse solutions, improve quality, reliability, and reduce delivery timelines.
- Lead development and implementation of digital closed‑loop and control systems for new UPS platforms.
- Play a key role in engineering design reviews, technical leadership, identifying project risks and technical weaknesses, and proposing safe, reliable, and compliant solutions.
- Use fast prototyping and lab mock‑ups to close learning loops and achieve results quickly.
- Document design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Control Systems or Power Electronics.
- 5 to 8 years of experience implementing digital control systems (DSP and FPGA) for three‑phase high‑power UPS and power converters.
- Experience with adaptive, optimal, or model predictive control based on industry standards.
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL).
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills for troubleshooting intricate control system challenges.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar.
- Knowledge of Grid‑Forming Control is a plus.
