Job summary

John Crane in Bengaluru is seeking an engineer to support project requests and design wet seal products using 2D/3D CAD. You will collaborate with Global Engineering groups to deliver right-first-time solutions and perform basic engineering calculations.

The role requires 1–3 years of engineering experience, knowledge of seals and pump processes, and the ability to work independently or with senior engineers to solve problems. Solid Edge experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in engineering with 1-3 years experience.
• Good knowledge including design, materials, fluid mechanics & drawings.
• Ability to make 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings using Solid Edge.
• Knowledge of mechanical seals including design and application.
• Pump and process plant knowledge is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently or with more experienced engineer to solve problems.
• Aptitude for problem solving and communication.
• Knowledge of competitor products is an advantage.
• Experience of reverse engineering is an advantage in drawing/design work.
• Experience working on pump and seal repair is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Review & processing of stakeholder Project Requests.
• Follow standard application & design engineering techniques to select, apply, design and draft wet seal products to repair or replace seals.
• Liaise with Global Engineering Product Groups and other SMEs to provide ‘Right first time’ design solutions.
• Perform basic engineering calculations as required to validate design or create new designs.
• Familiarity with web calcs an advantage.
• Basic use of FEA tools like CSTEDY & similar tools for simple design analysis an advantage.
• Design wet seal products using 2 & 3D CAD techniques (Solid Edge preferred).
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects on time with quality.
• Troubleshoot and provide recommendation during assembly or installation or failure analyses.
• Support and work on departmental projects including processes or procedure development, improvements and new capability addition.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experiences:

• Bachelors in engineering (Preferably Mechanical / chemical / Industrial / Production) with typical experience of 1-3years. (Grade will be based on candidate knowledge, experience etc.)
• Must have good engineering knowledge including design, materials, fluid mechanics & drawings.
• Ability to make 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings using preferably Solid edge.
• Knowledge of mechanical seals is required including design and application.
• Pump and process plant knowledge is an advantage.
• Must have the ability to work independently or in coordination with more experienced engineer to come with engineering solutions.
• Must have aptitude for problem solving and communication skills.
• Knowledge of competitor products is an advantage.
• Experience of reverse engineering an advantage in terms of drawing/design work but also hands on measurement techniques.
• Experience working on pump and seal repair an advantage.

Additional Information

Utilizes technology to improve, streamline and automate design process. Responsible for programming tasks assigned by Team Lead with Quality and Deadline. The objective is to support Team Lead for requirement Programming activities and contribute to progress of overall project while maintaining product quality and adhering to internal standards.
