Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- To review, interpret, establish project requirements & its deliverables on order receipt for API 682 auxiliary sealant systems and its auxiliary units.
- Job scheduling and required resource planning within internal / external system engineering team(s).
- Attend kick‑off meetings with Bidding, Contracts and Operation teams. Reviewing supplier quote and technical alignment.
- To design and release large varieties of Engineered‑to‑Order wet seal system General Arrangement Drawings (GAs’) in line with project specifications using Solid Edge and other engineering management tool.
- Sizing and datasheet preparation of system components, auxiliary piping, valves, and instrumentation.
- Detailed Engineering Calculations. Thermal, Mechanical and Pressure vessel design using tools / software.
- Creating Bill of Material on SAP and managing drawings in Team Center.
- Preparing instrument hook‑up drawings, Instrument IO list, Utility list, datasheet per industry formats.
- To consistently meet on time engineering deliverables and maintain high standard of work output to the internal and external customers / associates.
- Must own compliance to department processes, procedures, and design standards.
- Should actively contribute to and promote continuous improvement.
- Checking, approving the customer deliverables.
- Co‑ordination with John Crane manufacturing centres across the world to ensure the products are sourced and packaged in line with the overall project schedule.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis and ensure agreed Corrective Actions are implemented consistently (8D / RCA / GCN process).
Key Accountabilities:
- Good analytical skills and excellent understanding of process engineering needs in design & operations, key business drivers and industry practices.
- Should have good written and spoken skills in English and be a dedicated team player with well‑developed interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make quick decisions while evaluating risk to John Crane and the customer.
- Ability to work in a deadline‑driven work environment, attention to detail, and multitasking are essential.
- Support safe workplace cultures and compliance with Smiths EH&S.
This role is to support SR1 project - post order engineering execution - EMEAA.
Qualifications
- A Bachler in an engineering discipline (Mechanical or Instrumentation) with 2 to 4 years’ experience in technology development, engineering, or similar functions.
- Domain knowledge in process equipment and seal systems in Polymer, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Aerospace, Refinery and Turbomachinery.
- Strong working knowledge of how the mechanical seal business and markets work, and how to create growth through engineering processes and products.
- Good understanding of engineering process needs in design and operations, key business drivers and industry practices.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate strategies and drive a coordinated action plan.
- Ability to work in a deadline‑driven work environment, attention to detail, and multitasking are essential.
- Affinity with mechanical seal systems as essential technology in process industry.
- An ability to work in an international environment with functional teams spread over various regions including a willingness to travel.
- Self‑starter and highly motivated to achieve results with limited direct supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong hands‑on skills with P&ID, 3D Assembly / 3D Part modelling / 2D Draft environments, preferably in Solid Edge.
- Strong application and detailed engineering knowledge of mechanical seal support systems (API –Piping Plans) or similar fluid control systems products (like Lube oil Consoles or Oil Lubricating Systems or Pre‑jacking systems, High pressure‑Low pressure systems or Filtration units etc.) for applications in Oil & Gas, Chemical, Petrochemical, Power, Steel industries.
- Good knowledge in interpretation and compliance of project specification from OEM, EPC and End user will be added advantage.
- Hands on experience in selection and release of purchase specifications (Datasheets) of field measurement instruments like Pressure, Level & Temperature gauges, transmitter etc.
- Working knowledge with API 682, API 610, API 614, ASTM/ASME piping, and pressure vessels standards are preferable.
- Should be committed to very high levels of customer service and collaborate with various inter‑departments.
- Hands on Skills with automation will be an added advantage.
