Job summary

John Crane in Bengaluru is seeking an engineer to review and process project requests, apply design techniques to wet seal products, and draft 2D/3D drawings for repair or replacement seals.

You'll collaborate with Global Engineering groups, perform basic calculations, and support quality and on-time delivery, with emphasis on problem solving, autonomy, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in engineering with 1-3 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of design, materials, fluid mechanics and drawings.
• Ability to create 2D and 3D drawings using Solid Edge.
• Knowledge of mechanical seals and pumps is advantageous.
• Autonomous work style with good communication and problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Review & processing of stakeholder Project Requests.

Follow standard application & design engineering techniques and procedures to select, apply, design and draft wet seal products to repair or replace seals.

Where necessary, liaise with Global Engineering Product Groups and other SMEs to provide ‘Right first time’ design solutions.

Perform basic engineering calculations as required to validate design or create new designs. Familiarity with web calcs an advantage.

Basic use of FEA tools like CSTEDY & similar tools for simple design analysis an advantage.

Work with internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver projects on time maintaining quality.

Troubleshoot and provide recommendation during assembly or installation or failure analyses.

Support and work on departmental projects including, processes or procedure development, improvements and new capability addition.

• Drive and track performance in applications engineering (Orders and Proposals)

• Ensure Regional Engineering drives use of Automatization and Global Design Centers

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experiences:

• Bachelors in engineering (Preferably Mechanical / chemical / Industrial / Production) with typical experience of 1-3years. (Grade will be based on candidate knowledge, experience etc.)
• Must have good engineering knowledge including design, materials, fluid mechanics & drawings.
• Ability to make 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings using preferably Solid edge.
• Knowledge of mechanical seals is required including design and application.
• Pump and process plant knowledge is an advantage.
• Must have the ability to work independently or in coordination with more experienced engineer to come with engineering solutions.
• Must have aptitude for problem solving and communication skills.
• Knowledge of competitor products is an advantage.
• Experience of reverse engineering an advantage in terms of drawing/design work but also hands on measurement techniques.
• Experience working on pump and seal repair an advantage.

Additional Information

Utilizes technology to improve, streamline and automate design process. Responsible for programming tasks assigned by Team Lead with Quality and Deadline. The objective is to support Team Lead for requirement Programming activities and contribute to progress of overall project while maintaining product quality and adhering to internal standards.
