Job summary

SKF is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to contribute to product design within the bearing portfolio. You will perform end‑to‑end engineering, develop 3D models in Creo, and release drawings using PLM processes.

The role requires GD&T knowledge and close collaboration with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely, high‑quality outputs. Based in Bengaluru, you will participate in design reviews, support manufacturing, and drive continuous improvement through data‑driven

Qualifications

• Strong engineering knowledge and ability to design products from concept to release.
• Experience in end‑to‑end design activities and PDP process.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis and interference calculations.

Responsibilities

• Create/modify 3D models and drawings (proposal and manufacturing) per stakeholder requirements.
• Release drawings and BOM via Engineering Change Management process.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for prototype/testing and design validation.

About Technology Development

The TD team for ISEA is focused on Customer Product development & Engineering, Innovation for the region, rollout of new technologies for the region, testing, Failure Investigation, scaleup from POC to series production, Portfolio Management etc.

• Testing : Group Testing Services is a trusted partner in design, process and supplier validation. JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports To: DGM - Global Product Engineering

Role Purpose :

Carry out all Engineering activities related to design of products within the portfolio to achieve exceptional results through – personal effectiveness, partnering with others & building customer loyalty, fulfilling their needs in an efficient & effective manner.

• Strong in Engineering knowledge.
• Experience in conceptual design and development activities from end-to-end solution.
• Strong understanding of PDP process along with other quality requirements.
• Knowledge in GD&T, Tolerance stack up analysis & Interference calculations.
• Should be proficient in Modeling, Assembly and Detailing in Creo to take responsibility of Product Engineering activities.
• Experience on Design Automation, Map keys, UDF’s, Pro-Programming Pro-Toolkit is added advantage.
• Knowledge on incorporating manufacturing process methodology in Creo, Drawing release process and ECM Process.
• Proficiency in applying the Geometric Product Specification (GPS), Tolerances (Dimensional, Form & Surface).
• Knowledge in precision, accuracy, reliability & traceability.
• Knowledge and understanding in Metrology & Metallurgy aspects.
• Proficient in selection of materials for application / design requirements based on their behavior properties.
• Experience in application of measurement principles for manufacturing & other process.
• Proficiency in manufacturing & machining processes.
• Active Participation in continuous improvement initiatives (Business Excellence, Quality, Project Management) to improve process performance (KPI’s),
• Take timely actions on the action points given during the audits,
• Identify root cause analysis for the process & product deviations and take corrective actions; and.
• To follow management instructions and procedures to report Safety Health and Environment (SHE) risks and SHE related incidents; to follow quality specifications and requirements, and identify quality risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Create and release engineering drawings & bill of materials using Engineering Change Management process.
• To create Generic models of bearings and using the same to generate bearing variants.
• Drive activities within the digitalization area to develop our future modular design processes, which enables increased speed and quality assurance in design work while making our offers more transparent to the organization.
• Define and develop engineering requirement specifications for bearing components and assemblies.
• Define project schedule, release drawings for prototype, initiate Purchase Order, co‑ordinate with vendor, conduct test in collaboration with Lab Engineers and modify design to meet performance requirements
• Collaborate with Product development centers to enhance strong engagement.
• Conduct Design reviews and get buy‑in from all cross functional teams.
• Drive projects independently and multi‑tasking without losing effectiveness.
• Create/Modify 3D model & drawings (Proposal & Manufacturing) based on the stakeholder requirements, CAD modeling issues resolution, demonstrate ability to incorporate GPS in product design (In Proposal, Manufacturing drawings, etc).
• To resolve issues related to Windchill (PDM) activities, during uploading of CAD data, adding attributes values, creation of WT parts, etc.,
• To work & manage according to the product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process established by respective Product lines.
