Job summary

Eaton India Innovation Center in Pune is seeking an Engineer-Functional Safety for the Reliability & Safety CoE. The role focuses on safety work packages for automotive systems, including electronics and hybrids, across NPI programs.

It requires experience in hazard analysis, safety concepts, and DFSS, with exposure to eMobility domains. You will plan milestones, mentor junior engineers, and develop safety instructions to ensure compliant, high-quality NPIs and product improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's / Masters Degree in Electrical/ Electronics / Power Electronics engineering/safety/ reliability engineering
• 3-5 years of relevant experience or Masters with 0-1 year in functional safety
• Understanding of ISO 26262
• Vehicle domain knowledge in eMobility / vehicle electrification
• Awareness of DFSS and related safety frameworks

Responsibilities

• Deliver safety work packages (Design for Safety) for automotive systems (electrical/electronics and hybrids) for NPIs and product improvements
• Plan milestones, review deliverables, and mentor on-job development
• Create, publish, and maintain safety process work instructions across product lines
• Ensure on-time delivery of FuSA tasks with quality

Eaton India Innovation Center located in Pune, India has an opening for a Engineer-Functional Safety in Reliability & Safety Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities

This role is established for Mobility business of Eaton in Reliability & Safety CoE team. The core responsibilities of this position are following:

Responsible for delivering safety work package (Design for Safety) for Automotive system solution (e.g. Electronic Transmission/Power system, inverters, power distribution unit) for electrical /Electronics and hybrid solutions for on- and off-road vehicles related new products introduction (NPI) programs without impacting project schedules. Typical deliverables are: program safety plan, hazard assessment (HARA), safety requirements, technical safety concept and implementation of requirements, verification & validation.

Deploy safety assessment framework with the help of senior safety professional.

Responsible to identify and mitigate safety risks under guidance & follow safety sign-off process for NPIs.

Job Responsibilities

• Utilize functional safety concepts / tools such as preliminary hazard assessments, Risk Management, Hazard and Risk Analysis, Safety Goal definition, Fault Tree Analysis, FMECA, FMEDA, Safety requirements identification, Technical safety concept, Fault Injection test plan, Verification and validation of safety test cases and Compliancy scorecard for NPIs and/or existing product improvements.
• Planning project milestones, executing milestones, conducting deliverables reviews, communication with stakeholder and on-job development through technical mentoring.
• Create, publish, and maintain work instructions for safety processes ensuring best practices are shared across the product lines.
• Responsible for on-time delivery of FuSA tasks with assured quality.

Qualifications

Bachelor's / Masters Degree in Electrical/ Electronics / Power Electronics engineering/safety/ reliability engineering

Bachelor's with 3-5 years of relevant experience or Masters with 0-1 year working in functional safety.

Skills

Understanding of safety standards like ISO 26262

Vehicle domain knowledge, work experience in the area of eMobility / vehicle electrification.

Awareness of DFSS etc.

Experience with any industry proven safety analysis suite of tools
