Job description

Main Purpose:

Engineer Control Centre Pipeline will be responsible for safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the gas pipeline network by real-time monitoring and control from the Pipeline Operation Centre (POC), while coordinating with field teams and ensuring scheduled gas delivery, minimal fuel usage, and zero compromise on pipeline integrity and safety.

Job Accountabilities:
  • Operate and monitor pipeline compressors, valves, and metering systems to ensure functioning within defined safe operating limits.
  • Manage and control gas flow to evacuate all volumes as per daily nominations and deliver gas at custody transfer points (CTPs) as scheduled.
  • Maintain optimal line pack across the pipeline network to ensure delivery pressure and gas availability during demand fluctuations.
  • Operate compressors in the most fuel- and maintenance-efficient manner, avoiding peak loads and minimizing start-stop cycles.
  • Adjust set points for Metering & Regulation (M&R) stations and Compressor Stations based on real-time operating conditions and delivery requirements.
  • Continuously monitor SCADA/DCS alarms, acknowledge critical events, and initiate timely corrective actions as per SOPs.
  • Identify and address causes of gas loss through system balancing, pressure trend analysis, and interaction with field teams.
  • Serve as the nodal control point during emergency situations, ensuring communication with field operations, isolation of affected sections, and activation of response protocols.
  • Monitor the integrity of pipeline assets for leaks, vibration, pressure anomalies, and equipment performance to pre-empt failures.
  • Monitor and control flow rates, pressures, and temperature at multiple points using SCADA/HMI systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with maintenance team to ensure planned maintenance activities are executed without affecting system reliability or customer deliveries.
  • Act as a communication bridge between Control Room, Field Operations, Scheduling, and Commercial Teams, especially during abnormal events or equipment unavailability.
Qualification:
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical / Chemical engineering from a recognized university.
Experience:
  • Hands on experience on oil & gas control room operations.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in upstream (E&P) Oil/Gas / Petchem / refinery industry.
