Deutsche Bank AG in Pune, India is seeking an Engineer to lead and deliver Java microservices and data pipelines on GCP, under senior guidance.

You will design scalable Java services, build streaming and batch data flows, and mentor engineers while applying Agile practices. The role requires 5+ years of experience, deep Java expertise, and hands-on GCP knowledge.

Qualifications

• 5+ years professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience designing and operating microservices architectures at scale.
• GCP hands-on experience with Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Compute/GKE.
• Data pipelines (streaming and batch) and large-volume data handling.
• PostgreSQL and Oracle—schema design, indexing, query optimization, backup/replication.

• Unit/integration testing experience and strong engineering practices.

You’ll build scalable, reliable Java services and streaming/batch dataflows, drive architecture decisions, and mentor engineers to deliver high-throughput data solutions. Candidate should also be a team player with a knack for visual design and utility. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, it will be an added advantage.

Your key responsibilities

• Design & Build: Implement production-grade Java microservices and REST/gRPC APIs.

• Data Pipelines: Build, operate, and optimize streaming and batch pipelines on GCP Dataflow (Apache Beam) and related services.
• Cloud Platform: Own services deployed to GCP (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC).
• CI/CD & IaC: Define and implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code patterns; mentor others on automation.
• Technical Debt & Quality: Drive testing strategy (unit/integration/end-to-end), static analysis and continuous improvement.

Your skills and experience

• 5+ years professional software engineering experience, with deep Java expertise.
• Proven experience designing and operating microservices architectures at scale.
• GCP: Hands-on experience with GCP services (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Compute/GKE).
• Data Engineering: Experience building data pipelines (streaming and batch) and handling large-volume data.
• Relational Databases: Practical experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle—schema design, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, backup/replication strategies, and writing stored procedures (PL/pgSQL / PL/SQL).
• System Design: Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, and performance tuning.
• DevOps: Familiar with Docker, Kubernetes (GKE), CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Testing: Unit/integration test experience and solid engineering practices.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to mentor and influence cross-functional teams.

Good to have

• Apache Beam: Practical experience authoring Beam pipelines (Java) and running them on Dataflow.
• Spark: Experience with Apache Spark for batch/stream processing.
• Streaming Concepts: Familiarity with event-driven design, exactly-once semantics, windowing, watermarks.
• DB Migration/Tooling: Experience migrating or integrating between Oracle and PostgreSQL, familiarity with tools like pg_dump/pg_restore, ora2pg, logical replication, or heterogeneous replication setups.
• Datastores: Experience with Bigtable, Spanner, Redis or other NoSQL stores.
• Security & Compliance: Knowledge of cloud security patterns, data governance, and GDPR/PII considerations.
• Performance Profiling: Experience with JVM tuning, GC, and profiling tools.

Experience

5+ years of prior working experience in a global banking / insurance/financial organization. Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
