Job Description: Associate – Employee Relations (Contract)
Function Description

The Employee Relations (ER) function is a Centre of Excellence within the Talent organisation of EY Global Delivery Services (GDS). This contract role provides day-to-day support to the ER Lead and team by assisting with investigations, managing assigned low-severity cases, keeping case records current and completing routine ER administrative activities. The role works within defined procedures and promptly escalates sensitive, complex or higher-risk matters to the ER Lead.

  • Assist the ER Lead and ER team across investigations by supporting case intake, preparing investigation plans and timelines, scheduling interviews and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Gather, organise and review relevant documents and evidence; prepare interview questions; take accurate interview notes; maintain evidence logs; and draft factual case summaries for review by the ER Lead.
  • Independently manage assigned low-severity and routine ER cases in accordance with approved policies, standard operating procedures, service-level expectations and guidance from the ER Lead.
  • Conduct initial fact-finding, coordinate discussions, document employee and stakeholder inputs, follow up on open actions and prepare closure documentation for low-severity matters.
  • Recognise and promptly escalation matters involving higher severity, legal or reputational exposure, retaliation concerns, safeguarding issues, conflicts of interest or any other complexity beyond the agreed scope.
  • Perform ER operations, including opening and updating cases, monitoring ageing and turnaround time, maintaining trackers and dashboards, coordinating documentation and approvals, and supporting timely case closure.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and audit-ready case files, ensuring all records are stored and handled in line with confidentiality, privacy and information-security requirements.
  • Prepare standard correspondence, meeting records, case updates, reports and other ER documentation using approved templates and review protocols.
  • Compile routine case data, check trackers for missing or overdue updates and provide regular status information to the ER Lead.
  • Maintain standard templates, checklists, investigation files and process documents, and complete other routine ER administrative tasks assigned by the ER Lead.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, factual and well-structured case documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and follow-through while managing multiple cases and operational tasks.
  • Basic understanding of employee relations principles, workplace policies and Indian employment law is desirable.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional judgement.
  • Ability to remain neutral, listen carefully, ask structured questions and distinguish facts from assumptions.
  • Ability to work within defined processes, recognise the limits of delegated authority and elevate risks in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; experience with HR or case-management systems is an advantage.
  • A collaborative, service-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively with the ER Lead, Talent teams and business stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, or a similar role.
  • Basic understanding of employment laws and workplace policies is desirable.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
