Job Description

The Associate Professor - Emergency Medicine is responsible for teaching emergency medicine, providing rapid assessment and stabilization of critically ill patients, supervising residents, managing emergency procedures, conducting research, and supporting departmental academic development.

  • Teach Emergency Medicine to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.
  • Conduct lectures, bedside teaching, simulation sessions, seminars, and case discussions.
  • Supervise residents, interns, and junior faculty members in emergency-care settings.
  • Perform rapid triage and prioritize patients according to clinical urgency.
  • Assess, stabilize, and manage acute medical and surgical emergencies.
  • Manage trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, toxicological, and other emergency conditions.
  • Perform emergency procedures within approved clinical privileges.
  • Support airway management, resuscitation, and advanced life-support activities.
  • Monitor critically ill patients and coordinate admissions or transfers.
  • Participate in emergency-department rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions.
  • Coordinate care with ICU, Surgery, Medicine, Anesthesia, Radiology, and other departments.
  • Guide postgraduate dissertations, research projects, and academic assignments.
  • Conduct examinations and evaluate student and resident performance.
  • Maintain accurate emergency records and clinical documentation.
  • Participate in emergency audits, morbidity reviews, and quality-improvement programs.
  • Support disaster preparedness and mass-casualty response activities.
  • Mentor students, residents, and junior faculty members.
  • Participate in research, publications, conferences, and continuing medical education.
  • Ensure compliance with emergency-care, patient-safety, infection-control, and ethical protocols.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Head of Department.
