Role Overview
We are looking for a technically strong and execution-driven Embedded Project Manager to lead end-to-end development of healthcare and medical devices.
This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring a strong understanding of embedded hardware, firmware, product engineering, and medical device development lifecycle.
The candidate will drive execution across hardware, firmware, testing, manufacturing, compliance, and deployment activities.
Note: This is not a coordination-only role; the candidate must be capable of reviewing and guiding hardware and system-level decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution & Product Delivery
- Drive the complete product development lifecycle from concept to deployment.
- Define project plans, milestones, sprint goals, and delivery timelines.
- Ensure timely execution and product readiness.
- Identify risks proactively and drive resolution plans.
- Embedded Hardware & Firmware Leadership
- Lead embedded hardware and firmware teams.
- Review schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and component selection.
- Guide hardware debugging, bring‑up, and firmware integration activities.
- Ensure optimised power consumption, reliability, and performance.
- Coordinate sensor integration and communication modules such as BLE, WiFi, GSM, and LTE.
- Regulatory & Compliance Management
- Ensure compliance with medical device and quality standards, including ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, CE, FDA, and BIS.
- Drive technical documentation, validation, verification, and certification readiness.
- Coordinate with testing and certification labs, including TUV and NABL‑approved labs.
- Support audit preparation and regulatory submissions.
- Manufacturing & Vendor Coordination
- Manage prototyping, pilot builds, and production transitions.
- Coordinate with PCB manufacturers, component suppliers, assembly vendors, and EMS partners.
- Ensure cost optimisation, quality control, and delivery timelines.
- Drive BOM optimisation and manufacturing scalability.
- Device Testing & Quality Assurance
- Define testing and validation methodologies for embedded products.
- Ensure product reliability, safety, and clinical‑grade performance.
- Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvements.
- Oversee functional, environmental, stress, and reliability testing.
- Supply Chain & Logistics
- Manage procurement planning, inventory forecasting, and component availability.
- Mitigate supply chain risks and component shortages.
- Coordinate logistics for prototype and production devices.
- Documentation & Intellectual Property
- Maintain technical documentation, design history files, and device records.
- Support patent documentation and technical publications.
- Ensure documentation traceability and audit readiness.
- Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Product, Software, AI/ML, Clinical, Manufacturing, and Management teams.
- Ensure seamless device‑to‑cloud integration and platform compatibility.
- Drive alignment across engineering, operations, and business functions.
Required Qualifications
- B.Tech / M.Tech in CE, Electronics, Embedded Systems, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems, hardware product development, or medical device engineering.
- Strong experience managing cross‑functional technical projects.
- Good communication skills.
Technical Expertise (Must Have)
- Strong understanding of PCB design, schematics, BOM management, and electronics fundamentals.
- Hands‑on exposure to component selection and hardware debugging.
- Knowledge of analog and digital electronics, signal processing, and power systems.
- Experience working closely with firmware development teams.
- Understanding of embedded product lifecycle from prototype to production.
- Candidates without practical hardware exposure should not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in medical or wearable device development.
- Exposure to healthcare compliance standards and certifications.
- Experience in vendor management, manufacturing coordination, and production planning.
- Knowledge of cloud‑connected IoT devices and remote monitoring systems.
