Job summary

Cubic Corporation is seeking an experienced software engineering manager to oversee and deliver software projects across teams. You will ensure resources, plan and drive design, development and testing, and maintain budget and schedules for complex initiatives.

The role requires hands-on leadership, collaboration across locations, and active participation in process improvements and mentoring of staff to achieve high-quality software deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of eight years of related experience.
  • Proven experience handling a team of 8–10 members and leading projects to meet milestones.
  • Track record of setting objectives, managing performance, development and cost controls.
  • Experience in specification, design and development of software.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of programming languages, embedded Linux, IPC and RTOS (FreeRTOS, QNX, ThreadX).
  • Experience with BSP, device drivers, peripheral interfaces (USB, Ethernet, I2C, SPI) and bootloaders (U-Boot, MCUboot).
  • Embedded CI/CD pipelines (Yocto + Jenkins/GitLab/Bitbucket), cross-compilation toolchains (GCC) and version control (Git).
  • Knowledge of secure firmware/OTA update mechanisms and Agile/Scrum/DevOps methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life-cycle and excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure availability of required hardware resources, software and tools for each project.
  • Carry out analysis, design, development and testing of software using appropriate tools.
  • Coordinate activities of software engineering staff and allocate resources.
  • Plan, lead and track work activities of software project staff, motivating, delegating, coaching and training subordinates.
  • Supervise day-to-day development of assigned project work by team members.
  • Guide teams in performing testing to ensure a high-quality product is delivered.
  • Ensure achievement of schedules and budgets, and manage software engineering metrics.
  • Plan, manage, track and improve all software system development from inception to completion.
  • Conduct in-house training and briefings for internal and external representatives.
  • Coach and mentor team members to continually improve performance.
  • Manage recruitment activities, performance reviews, time-sheet approvals and holiday requests.
  • Act as an advisor to staff regarding tasks, projects and operations, and resolve complex problems.
  • Participate in company-wide continuous process improvement teams and stay abreast of new technologies.
  • Conduct code reviews, guide team members, and ensure improvements are made.
  • Communicate clearly with staff at different locations to coordinate team work.
  • Support any other departmental projects/tasks as directed by the supervisor.
  • Step in and perform any team member’s duties when necessary.
  • Suggest ideas to improve effectiveness, employee morale and satisfaction.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Support bids, proposals and customer variation requests.

Job Summary

Manages and implements software engineering projects ensuring conformance with plans, policies, procedures, budgets and schedules. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ARM Cortex‑A / Cortex‑M architectures.
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies (BLE, Wi‑Fi, LTE/5G) and integration with IoT cloud platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT, or equivalent).
  • Experience in secure boot and cryptography frameworks, PCI compliance and embedded system security standards.
  • Experience with secure access modules (SAM) / hardware security modules (HSM).
