We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated R&D Engineer (Board Bring-Up & Embedded Systems) to join our research and development team. If you’re passionate about cutting-edge electronics, board-level innovation, and driving forward the next generation of medical technology, we’d love to hear from you.
Job Summary
In this role, you will focus on board bring-up, electronics design, and embedded system integration for medical device applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including hardware designers, firmware developers, and medical professionals—to ensure that our solutions meet stringent performance, reliability, and regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will span circuit-level design, hardware-software co-integration, and advanced prototyping, all while pushing the boundaries of innovation in MedTech and IoT devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Board Bring-Up & Hardware Integration
- Lead the bring-up and validation of new PCB designs, ensuring peripherals (UART, I2C, SPI, etc.) and components function optimally.
- Collaborate with hardware designers to review schematics, PCB layouts, and component datasheets, identifying and resolving potential integration challenges.
- Participate in requirements analysis and design reviews to develop robust, scalable embedded systems.
- Propose innovative hardware architectures and electronics solutions that align with product roadmaps and regulatory needs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues at the board level, using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Optimize power consumption, signal integrity, and system performance to meet medical device standards.
- Firmware & Software Collaboration
- Work closely with embedded firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software layers.
- Contribute to low-level driver development and platform-independent environments when needed.
- Develop prototypes and run system-level tests, refining designs based on performance metrics, medical requirements, and user feedback.
- Verify compliance with relevant standards (ISO 13485, FDA guidelines) through rigorous testing and documentation.
- Regulatory & Medical Compliance
- Support the design and development of medical devices that adhere to ISO 13485 and FDA regulations, ensuring electronic sub-systems meet all safety and efficacy requirements.
- Implement secure data handling measures, particularly for sensitive patient data.
- Post-Production Support
- Assist production and QA teams in troubleshooting board-level issues post-deployment, providing technical expertise to ensure minimal downtime.
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Senior Level: 4+ years of experience with circuit design, board bring-up, and embedded system integration.
- Mid-Level: 2+ years of experience in electronics hardware and firmware co-development.
- Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of circuit design, PCB layout principles, and component selection.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and experience with PCB design tools (e.g., OrCAD).
- Hands-on experience with Renesas, STM32, or similar MCUs (16- to 32-bit).
- Familiarity with embedded C or similar low-level programming languages.
- Competence in protocol analysis (SPI, I2C, UART, BLE, etc.) and hardware debugging methods.
- Capability to review, optimize, and debug system resources for performance and reliability.
- Understanding of low-power design for IoT systems and real-time data handling.
- Medical Device Expertise
- Exposure to ISO 13485, FDA filings, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of medical-grade components (e.g., ECG, SpO2) and system-level integration for healthcare applications.
- Awareness of data security, encryption, and privacy standards in medical electronics.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) for embedded platforms.
- Familiarity with machine learning approaches in edge devices.
- Background in wireless protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa) for medical IoT solutions.
