Job summary

Bosch Global Software Technologies Private Limited in Bengaluru, India, is seeking an experienced Embedded Linux BSP engineer to lead the design, development and maintenance of Linux-based platform software for varied microprocessor platforms.

You will configure kernel, device trees, and bootloaders, develop device drivers, and optimize startup time and memory usage while collaborating with hardware teams and customers on platform roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Strong programming expertise in Embedded C/C++ and system-level software development.
• Extensive hands-on experience in Embedded Linux BSP Development for microprocessor-based platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Linux Kernel Architecture, Device Tree, Kernel Configuration, and System Initialization.
• Expertise in Linux Device Driver Development for peripheral and custom hardware interfaces.
• Experience with microprocessor platforms (NXP, STM32, TI, etc) and bootloaders (U-Boot) and Linux startup sequence customization.
• Hands-on experience with Yocto Project, Buildroot, or similar Linux distribution frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Linux networking, file systems, memory management, and process scheduling.
• Experience with debugging tools (GDB, JTAG, Lauterbach, Trace32) and logic analyzers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, customization, and maintenance of Embedded Linux BSPs for various microprocessor platforms.
• Develop and integrate Linux Board Support Packages, bootloaders, kernel components, and platform software; configure kernel.
• Develop and maintain Linux device drivers for peripherals and hardware interfaces.
• Support board bring-up and hardware-software integration on new product platforms.
• Configure and customize Linux distributions using Yocto, Buildroot, or similar frameworks.
• Analyze and optimize system startup time, memory footprint, and platform performance.
• Debug complex system-level issues involving kernel, drivers, middleware, and hardware interactions.
• Collaborate with hardware teams on processor selection, schematics, and platform design phases.
• Work with customers and cross-functional teams to define platform requirements and roadmaps.

Job Description

• Lead the design, development, customization, and maintenance of Embedded Linux BSPs for various microprocessor platforms

Expected skill set

• Strong knowledge of Linux Kernel Architecture, Device Tree, Kernel Configuration, and System Initialization
• Expertise in Linux Device Driver Development for peripheral and custom hardware interfaces

Good to Have skills

• Experience with Real‑Time Linux and PREEMPT_RT kernel configurations
• Knowledge of Hypervisors and Virtualization technologies such as Xen or Jailhouse
• Experience with Secure Boot, Trusted Platform Modules (TPM), and Linux Security Frameworks
• Exposure to Zephyr RTOS, Free RTOS, or other RTOS environments alongside Linux systems
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized embedded applications
• Experience with performance profiling, boot-time optimization, and system resource monitoringKnowledge of cybersecurity standards and embedded security concepts
