Job summary

NewSpace Research and Technologies, a Bengaluru-Delhi NCR startup, is building next‑generation missions and autonomous systems for defence applications. The role leads the hardware team, owning product life cycles from concept to qualification, coordinating with vendors and cross‑functional teams to deliver on schedule.

Ideal candidates have strong experience in avionics/defense or space products, HW/SW co‑design, and robust problem-solving skills to drive EMI/EMC, DO-254, and MIL-STD

Qualifications

• Experience in product design and development from requirements to detailed design and analysis across the full lifecycle.
• Experience in avionics, defense or space product development is highly desirable.
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and vendors in HW/SW co-design.
• Ability to perform feasibility analysis from requirements through all stages of design and deliverables.

Responsibilities

Job description

W e are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defence forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT’s product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform and an air/ground launched stand-off autonomous system.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Manage the HW team and partners and deliver the products as per schedule
• Take up complete ownership of the product and ensure that all blockers are adequately taken care of leaving no technical debt
• Work with cross functional teams and vendors to ensure seamless collaboration
• Evaluate new technologies and innovate to improve product competitiveness
• Mentor junior engineers and guide them as needed

Must have skills:

• Experience in Product design and development from requirements to detailed design and analysis spanning the complete product life cycle. Experience in design and development of products for Avionics, Defence or space applications is highly desirable.
• Experience of working with multi-disciplinary team and vendors in HW/SW Co-Design
• Experience in performing feasibility analysis from requirements in all phases of product design and deliver required deliverables in each phase.
• Knowledge of using simulation tools
• Experience of product performance evaluation (Hardware Verification) and product qualification to comply to MIL-STD and/or DO-160 standards
• Experience in use of DFMEA, DFT and DFM tools. Have an understanding of what works and what does not work.
• Strong problem solving skills and troubleshooting skills on electronics systems in identifying the root-cause and fixing with an efficient solution and driving the process improvement with lessons learnt.
• Experience on design for EMI/EMC and solving of any issues during the product qualification. Experience in EMP protection is desirable
• Strong experience in Hardware formal qualification, HW Integration and Verification Review and supporting certification requirements (DO-254 process)
• Experience in driving new technologies initiative, product improvement initiative, value engineering initiatives.
• Experience in Agile methodology
• Experience in suggesting alternative components or parts to mitigate current supply-chain issues

Good to have skills:

• Experience in Product design and development from requirements to detailed design and analysis spanning the complete product life cycle. Experience in design and development of products for Avionics, Defence or space applications is highly desirable.
• Experience of working with multi-disciplinary team and vendors in HW/SW Co-Design
• Experience with the Qualcomm and Nvidia ecosystem – chipsets, vendors, support etc.
• Applicant should possess a Bachelors or Masters in EE or CS.
• Applicant must have at least 10 + years of proven experience in managing hardware teams with good experience in all stages of a product life cycle
