Nikos Consulting in India is seeking an Electrical Engineer to own end-to-end electrical design, from client brief through design, load calculations, drawings, BOQ, raw-material planning, execution, testing, snag closure and handover.
The role demands independence to develop practical, compliant, commercially viable electrical solutions for commercial interiors, warehouses and industrial projects.
Own the complete electrical package from client requirement through design, load calculation, drawings, BOQ, raw-material planning, execution, testing, snag closure and handover.
This is not a routine site-supervision role. The engineer must be capable of independently developing a practical, compliant and commercially viable electrical solution.
Commercial / corporate interiors: lighting, power distribution, DBs/SMDBs, UPS/DG, workstation power, pantry/utilities, decorative and emergency lighting.
Warehouse: high-bay/internal/external lighting, distribution, equipment power, dock/yard lighting, earthing/lightning protection and containment.
Industrial: industrial power distribution, machinery/equipment connections, PCC/MCC/panels as applicable, DG/UPS, industrial lighting, earthing/lightning protection and heavy-duty installations.
Understand client brief, operational needs, specifications and existing electrical infrastructure.
Meet clients/consultants, ask the right technical questions, identify gaps and propose practical solutions.
Visit sites without unnecessary restrictions; conduct surveys and record existing loads, services, routes, equipment and constraints.
Prepare/review lighting, power, distribution, essential/non-essential, UPS/DG, equipment power, earthing, lightning protection, containment and electrical-room designs.
Prepare/review SLDs, DB schedules, load schedules, cable schedules, layouts and as-built drawings.
Design with constructability, maintenance access, safety, future requirements and commercial practicality in mind.
Calculate connected and demand loads for lighting, power, HVAC, equipment, machinery, UPS, DG and essential loads.
Determine panel/DB ratings, feeder and cable sizes, protection requirements and phase balancing.
Be able to explain and defend calculations to client/consultant.
Maintain practical working knowledge of applicable Indian and State electrical laws, CEA safety requirements, BIS/IS standards, NBC provisions, relevant IEC standards, DISCOM requirements and project/client specifications.
MUST hold a valid electrical licence / competency certificate / authorisation legally applicable to the electrical work being undertaken/supervised.
Licence must be current, verifiable and within its permitted scope. Candidate must provide documents for verification and comply with project/state-specific statutory requirements.
A B.E./B.Tech/Diploma alone does not replace any statutory licence/authorisation required for the specific work.
Extract quantities from drawings and prepare electrical BOQ; identify missing, excess and variation items.
Convert BOQ/design into procurement-oriented raw-material requirements including cables, wires, conduits, trays, DBs/panels, breakers, lighting, accessories, earthing/lightning materials, glands/lugs and consumables.
Track BOQ vs ordered vs received vs issued vs installed vs balance quantities and control wastage.
Understand the cost impact of design and execution decisions.
Validate contractor measurements, identify variations/additional work, control wastage and support QS/commercial team.
No major electrical variation, wastage or cost leakage should reach management as a surprise.
Be confident, flexible and presentable in client/consultant meetings.
Explain designs, load calculations, technical proposals and alternatives; handle observations professionally and represent MIPL well.
Daily: planned vs actual work, manpower, materials, inspections, constraints, variations and coordination.
Weekly: progress, quantities, material status, approvals, procurement, variations, snags, testing and next-week plan.
Design accuracy and completeness; load-calculation accuracy; BOQ accuracy; material planning; schedule adherence; low rework/wastage; MEP coordination; quality and safety; client handling; documentation; complete handover; site mobility and ownership.
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering preferred; Diploma may be considered for exceptional practical experience.
4-8 years preferred in commercial interiors, corporate offices, warehouses, industrial or turnkey electrical projects. AutoCAD and MS Excel/Office required; electrical design/calculation software is an advantage.
