Job summary

Floatex Solar is seeking a Design Lead (Electrical - DC & AC) to review and execute engineering activities covering DC and AC scopes of Solar PV Power Plants. This role includes generation estimates, plant layout, SLDs, module selection, inverter sizing, SMB, earthing, cable sizing, transformer sizing, and LT/HT breakers.

The candidate will coordinate with Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, MEP, and other departments, lead a team of design engineers and drafters, and ensure on-time, high-quality

Job description

As Design Lead (Electrical - DC & AC), the person shall be capable of reviewing & executing Engineering Activities covering both DC and AC scope of Solar PV Power Plants - including Generation Estimate, Overall Plant Layout, DC SLD, Solar Module Selection, Inverter Sizing, SMB, AC SLD, Building Layouts, Earthing Layouts, Cable Sizing Calculations, Transformer Sizing, and LT / HT Breakers. She / He shall facilitate the modellers in development of BIM 3D Model for PV Solar Power plants. In addition, she / he has to coordinate with other departments including Inter-departmental checks covering Civil / Structural, Instrumentation, MEP and others.

She / He shall lead a team of Design Engineers and Draughts Persons to manage the Engineering activities within budget, deliver on time and maintaining a high quality of engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings by Design Engineers & Draughts Persons. Checking of design & sizing calculations of engineering electrical equipment (DC & AC) and obtaining approvals from the client
• Review of Vendor deliverables pertaining to Engineering
• Capable of Multitasking and deliver multiple things on time
• Estimate and Plan man-hour requirements
• Review BOQ and submit to contracts team and providing technical clarifications
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines for ensuring inter-departmental checks
• Provide support & clarifications to the Site Execution team
• Check pre-award evaluation of vendors (w.r.t. technical specifications requirement of the client) and forward the validation document to Supply Chain Management
• Inspect equipment from the finalized vendor after submission of validation document of the vendor
• Clarify issues w.r.t. the design & requirements of the client to the Site Execution Team
• Collect inputs for project details (plot details, feeder arrangements etc.) from client & Project Engineering Manager
• Coordinating with Operations team and informing Design specifications for obtaining approval
• Collect inputs for project details (General Arrangement Drawings) from Vendors
• Check deliverables such as Equipment Layouts, Cable Routing Layout, Cable Tray Layout, Earthing Layout, Lighting Layout & Lightning Protection Layout
• Provide support to Civil / Structural for reviewing Vendor drawings
• Submit requirement of man-hours for undertaking & reviewing of design & drawings of the project

Technical Expertise

The Design Lead (Electrical DC & AC) is required to have an overall knowledge of equipment layouts and necessary calculations.

The Design Lead (Electrical DC & AC) should have detailed knowledge of Solar PV Power Plants, with understanding of engineering activities covering Generation Estimate, Overall Plant Layout, DC SLD, Solar Module Selection, Inverter Sizing, SMB, Earthing Layouts, Cable Sizing Calculations, SLD Preparation, Layout Engineering, Cable Routing, Lighting, Lightning Protection, and Cable Tray Routing. She / he should be capable of performing design & sizing calculations of Busbar, UPS, Battery, LT Transformer, Earthing Conductor (including Short Circuit Force calculations).

The Design Lead (Electrical DC & AC) is required to have knowledge on National and International Codes and Standards, and must understand and interpret the contractual technical requirements to facilitate the Project Teams as and when required.

In addition, the Design Lead (Electrical DC & AC) should also have an overall understanding of the inter-disciplinary (Civil & Structural, Mechanical and Instrumentation) design aspects of electrical equipment.
