Job summary

CDM Smith in Pune, India, seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to design electrical master systems, power distribution, and building services for diverse projects. You will conduct power system studies, perform calculations, and ensure designs meet applicable codes and client requirements.

You will review designs, select components (switchgears, transformers, MCCs), support site visits, and contribute to technical documentation and project presentations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of related experience; travel may be required.
• Willingness to travel as per project needs and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Create designs for electrical master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, and related electrical systems.
• Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations for various building services.
• Select electrical components including MCCs, switchgears, transformers, etc.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Ensure adherence to firm policies and updated design requirements.
• Conduct site reviews to align designs with location specifications.
• Develop technical design documentation and white papers; submit papers for journals.
• Collaborate on posters or presentations for conferences.

Job Description:

• Under general supervision, creates basic to moderately complex designs of electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems.
• Performs studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations. of basic complexity to meet client project requirements.
• Makes selections and defines specification of electrical components including: motor control centers, switchgears, transformers, etc.
• Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
• Updates design requirements as necessary.
• Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc..
• Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• Performs other duties as required.
• May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline.
• 8+ year of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities or industrial facilities is preferred
• Masters Degree in Power Systems Engineering is preferable.
• Minimum experience with Design and Developing drawings for electrical systems (power, controls, communications, fire alarm, and security) using AutoCAD & Revit.
• Minimum experience with performing electrical calculations using power systems analysis software like SKM, ETAP, EASY POWER etc.
