Job summary

H&MV Engineering is seeking a seasoned design lead to oversee engineering design oversight and proposal engineering management across complex utility projects. This role requires strong technical leadership, cross-disciplinary coordination, and strategic ownership of project scope.

This position involves preparing SLDs, layouts, earthing and BOMs, reviewing vendor drawings, and coordinating with civil, mechanical, and protection systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.
• Eight years of experience in GIS and AIS Substations design for 110kV+ voltage.
• Understands interfaces with civil, mechanical, and control & protection/automation (SCADA) systems.
• Must balance multiple projects under tight deadlines with self-motivation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reports, presentations and emails.
• Team player capable of working in a team or on independent projects.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Word, Excel and Outlook; ETAP/CDEGS/DIALUX/CYMCAP/PSCAD will be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare SLDs, electrical layouts, EKD, DSLP layout, earthing and cable trench layouts.
• Prepare switchyard illumination, control building drawings, BOMs and related drawings.
• Review equipment vendor drawings and interfaces with protection requirements.
• Perform design calculations for earthing, sag-tension, busbar sizing, short circuits, and cable sizing.
• Support tendering with BOMs, pre-bid queries, tender drawings, and site input for greenfield/brownfield projects.

Role Summary

This role is responsible for leading the engineering design oversight and proposal engineering management across multiple complex utility projects. The position demands strong technical leadership, cross-disciplinary coordination, and strategic ownership of project scope.

• Should be able to prepare the SLD, electrical layout -Plan & sections, EKD, DSLP Layout, Electrical clearance layout, Earthing Layout, cable trench layout, switch yard illumination, control building drawings (Panel arrangement, earthing, small power, lighting and Lighting protection etc), cable schedule, bill of materials (BOMs) etc.
• Should be well versed with various busbar schemes.
• Should be able to review the equipment vendor’s drawings/documents.
• Should be able to interface with control and protection requirements and knowledge of review of schemes is desirable.
• Should be well versed with design calculation for Earthing design, Sag tension, DSLP, Busbar sizing, short circuit forces, Cable sizing, battery sizing calculation, equipment sizing etc.
• Supporting to tendering department by preparing the tender stage Bill of material (BOM), pre bid quarries, Tender stage Drawing, coordination with site Engineers for technical input of site for green field /brown field projects

Qualification/Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline (Electrical or Electronics Engineering function) from a recognized university.
• Minimum of Eight years of experience in Design and Engineering of GIS and AIS Substations projects for voltage level of 110kV and above.
• Understands interfaces with civil, mechanical, Control & protection / automation (SCADA) systems, system study.
• Must be self-motivated with an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, presentations and emails.
• Must be a supportive team member, able to work in a team well as work on self-directed independent projects.
• Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience in ETAP, CDEGS, DIALUX, CYMCAP, PSCAD will be preferred
