Job description

SMBT Group of Institutions is looking for an experienced and responsible Electrical Engineer to manage, maintain, and monitor electrical systems and infrastructure across the campus.

The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, electrical safety, and contractor supervision. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring reliable power supply and the safe and efficient operation of all electrical installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate, and maintain electrical systems, equipment, panels, and installations across the campus.
• Ensure uninterrupted power supply to academic, administrative, hostel, residential, and other campus facilities.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, breakdowns, and emergency situations promptly.
• Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, testing, and safety checks of electrical equipment and installations.
• Maintain and monitor electrical panels, transformers, DG sets, UPS systems, lighting systems, pumps, motors, and other electrical infrastructure.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of electrical contractors, technicians, electricians, and maintenance staff.
• Ensure all electrical work is carried out safely and in accordance with applicable electrical safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain proper records of electrical maintenance, breakdowns, repairs, inspections, energy consumption, and equipment servicing.
• Coordinate electrical works related to new construction, renovation, expansion, and other campus development projects.
• Review electrical drawings, layouts, specifications, and project requirements as required.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, maintenance, and other departments for smooth execution of campus projects.
• Monitor electricity consumption and identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost reduction.
• Ensure timely servicing and maintenance of electrical equipment through approved vendors and contractors.
• Maintain adequate inventory of electrical spare parts, tools, and consumables.
• Prepare maintenance reports and provide regular updates to management regarding electrical systems and ongoing works.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety procedures, and statutory requirements.
• Respond effectively to electrical emergencies and take immediate corrective action to minimize downtime and safety risks.

Qualification & Experience

• Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: 3-6 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance, facility management, educational institutions, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, or similar environments.
• Candidates with experience in managing large campuses or institutional electrical infrastructure will be preferred.
