Job summary

Assystem in India seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to deliver complete electrical system design for critical infrastructure, conforming to BS standards and building regulations. You will coordinate with CAD/BIM teams and conduct site inspections to ensure designs are implemented correctly.

Responsibilities include preparing technical specifications, drawings, and documentation, supporting energy efficiency and sustainability, and mentoring junior engineers throughout the project

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 4-5 years of professional experience in electrical design
• Knowledge of BS 7909, BS 7671 and Building Regulations
• Proficiency in electrical design software and CAD applications
• Understanding of load calculations, cable sizing and voltage drop calculations
• Experience with lighting design and small power design
• Familiarity with BIM software and collaborative design processes
• Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors

Job Description

• Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of complete electrical system design, including load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, lighting design, and small power design
• Preparing detailed electrical designs in compliance with relevant British Standards and building regulations
• Conducting lighting protection and earthing system design to ensure safety and compliance
• Managing and coordinating with CAD designers and BIM modellers to develop accurate electrical models and documentation
• Performing site inspections and liaising with contractors to ensure designs are implemented correctly
• Preparing technical specifications, drawings, and comprehensive project documentation
• Collaborating with architects, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines to integrate electrical systems within overall building design
• Conducting quality assurance checks and testing of electrical installations prior to commissioning
• Identifying and resolving technical challenges and design conflicts during the project lifecycle
• Ensuring all electrical designs meet energy efficiency standards and sustainability requirements
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and emerging electrical technologiesProviding technical support and guidance to junior team members and project teams

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 4-5 years of professional experience in electrical design and engineering
• Comprehensive knowledge of British Standards (BS 7909, BS 7671, etc.) and Building Regulations
• Proficiency in electrical design software and CAD applications
• Strong understanding of electrical system design principles, including load calculations, cable sizing, and voltage drop calculations
• Demonstrated experience with lighting design and small power system design
• Knowledge of earthing and lightning protection system design
• Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) software and collaborative design processes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards professional registration with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
• Experience with advanced electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, or similar)
• Knowledge of energy efficiency standards and sustainable building design practices
• Experience in coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (architects, mechanical engineers, etc.)
• Proven track record of site inspections and contractor liaison on electrical installations
• Experience in quality assurance and testing of electrical installations prior to commissioning
• Mentoring or supervisory experience with junior engineering staff
• Continuous professional development (CPD) in emerging electrical technologies and industry best practices
