Job Summary:
The Company is looking to recruit an ambitious and energetic Project Development-ElectricalEngineer for open access projects, who will help Candi to lead the revolution of solar. Given that Candi is taking solar into a new realm with a new set of tools, the role will require creativity, innovation and a new way of thinking.
Specifically, the job requires taking ownership of the following for the team in India:
Project definition and feasibility study
- Provide to the business development team the technical bits of a project (Energy yield assessment using PV Syst or helioscope, project cost, construction timeline, system sizing, etc).
- Plant sizing tailored to customer load profiles, site potential and state level open access and banking regulations. Should have knowledge of monthly /annual banking, settlement timelines.
- Conduct client energy load assessments, interpretation of energy meter data and occasionally install or taking data from portable energy meter/loggers.
- Preparation of Layout Engineering deliverables such as Plan, Section, Erection Key diagram, MCR Layout, Sizing of breakers MCCB, CT, PT, busbar etc.
- Knowledge on selection of electrical equipment-Transformer, ACB, VCB, RMU switchgear relay protection, transmission lines LT & HT etc for solar plant.
- To conduct substation feasibility i.e. grid downtime, transmission line routing, space and availability of bay.
- Review Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) designs prepared by EPC contractors.
- Conduct detailed feasibility studies, integrating resource assessments, site analysis, technology selection, and economic modelling.
- Perform site visits and structural roof assessments to ensure project suitability and alignment with Candi Solar requirements.
- Compile pertinent documentation for project approval and facilitate the technical approval process.
Stakeholder Management
- Cultivate strong relationships with EPCs to facilitate constructive negotiations for project cost prices, ensuring competitive and efficient project delivery.
- Interact closely with the project management team to ensure a seamless handover of projects once contracts are signed, ensuring efficient project execution.
- Prepare comprehensive progress reports, technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedure and presentations for internal stakeholders, management, and external partners.
Permitting and Regulatory Compliance
- Analyse and incorporate state-wise OA policies (captive/group captive/third-party sale) and banking rules into the sizing strategy.
- Monitor and interpret changes in Open Access frameworks and DISCOM/grid-related directives that affect technical feasibility and sizing decisions.
- Stay up-to-date with local and national regulations to ensure full compliance during project development.
Intelligence
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in renewable energy technologies and propose innovative solutions to enhance project performance while optimizing costs.
- Stay informed about the regional and global energy markets, identifying trends and opportunities that may impact project development and revenue generation.
- Analyse and report on energy pricing structures, incentive programs, and policy changes to develop strategic approaches for maximizing project profitability.
- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with project development, both technical and regulatory.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to ensure project success and adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Location:
Gurgaon/Mumbai/ Bangalore/Pune/Chennai with frequent country-wide travel.
Hours:
Full time, five days per week.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Proven experience in renewable energy project development, preferably within an Independent Power Producer or related industry.
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in the Ground mount and C&I solar space.
- Knowledge of solar technology, project financing, energy yield assessment and regulatory requirements.
- Hands-on experience with PV Syst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, Google Sketchup and MS Excel.
- Strong understanding of state-wise Open Access policies and solar banking regulations.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with the capability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
