Job summary

Neilsoft seeks an Electrical Design Engineer in Tokyo, Japan, with 5–8 years of building services experience. Responsibilities include electrical and ELV design, coordination with architecture and structural teams, and producing deliverables for international projects.

The role requires proficiency in lighting calculations (DIALux/Relux), load calculations, and BIM-based coordination, with exposure to ETAP, Revit MEP, and Procore preferred. Knowledge of IS/NBC is beneficial.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Study project specs and technical documents.

Job Location : Tokyo. Japan

Position : Electrical Design Engineer

Experience : 5 to 8 years

Qualification : B.E or B. Tech. (Electrical) in Electrical Engineering

Required Skills & Experience:

1. Building services engineering experience from a design consultancy environment or a contractor with design & built environment. Any experience working on international projects will be an added advantage.

2. Sound knowledge of engineering calculations like Equipment & Switchgear sizing, Cable sizing, voltage drop, earthing calculation etc.

3. Experience on Lighting Calculation for Normal, Emergency using DIALux , Relux or equivalent software tools & Daylighting calculations using IES VE or equivalent.

4. Experience on Earthing / Grounding Designing and Lightning Protection

5. Experience with Electrical load calculations

6. Experience with Panel Schedules, DB Schedules, Luminary Schedules etc

7. Understanding of ELV system Designs like FAPA, CCTV, Access Control, Data & telephone etc and ICT system & requirements

8. Understanding of Green/Solar PV / Sustainability requirements

9. Should be well versed with Various Codes & Standards like IS codes and NBC 2016

10. Exposure in predesign manhour estimation and preparation of stagewise deliverables

11. Engineers with experience on Revit MEP and Naviswork shall be added advantage

12. Experience with Designing software like ETAP for power distribution design & electrical studies like load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, Harmonic analysis, Arc flash analysis, discrimination studies etc.

13. Experience on Tender Specification and BOQ

14. Worked on diff. building sectors residential, commercial, institutional (schools, colleges), healthcare (hospitals), transportation (airports, bus stations, metro stations), data centres etc.

15. Good understanding of coordination between different MEPF services as well as Architectural & Structural design from engineering & spatial coordination point of view.

16. Experience in review and QA/QC of 3D models, Drawings etc.

17. Experience of working on Common data environments like BIM 360, and Procore (collaborative tools to work on a model)

Responsibilities

1. Study the project Specification & other technical documents.

2. Prepare Effort Estimation & List of Deliverables to be produced

3. Input data review & prepare RFIs for insufficient data etc.

4. Electrical & ELV Designing as per project scope

5. Daily project task allocation & management.

6. Designing of Electrical services and providing inputs to detailing /BIM team.

7. Coordination of Electrical services with all other trade services such as Architecture, Structure, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection etc.

8. Participate in Team meetings & Client meetings.

9. Review & QAQC of project Deliverables.
