We seek a seasoned Electrical Design Engineer for Transmission and Distribution projects, with HV/LV experience, to lead BOQ preparation, shop drawings, and vendor coordination. The role offers exposure to cutting-edge projects and a collaborative environment with

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited university.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in electrical design for Transmission and Distribution systems (Indoor GIS/Outdoor Switchyards, upto 400kV).
• Experience with UK/Europe/Middle East utility exposure preferred; HV/LV electrical design for Oil & Gas is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical LV/MV/HT equipment BOQ, specs, and data sheets.
• Check shop drawings and coordinate site visits with contractors.
• Coordinate with discipline leads, PMs and clients for EPC-type power projects.
• Model electrical systems (grounding, load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash) using ETAP/SKM/CDEGS.
• Develop protective relay settings and equipment specifications; review vendor drawings.
• Prepare/estimate engineering costs and schedules; create electrical deliverables (one-line, schematics, layouts).
• Interact with clients, vendors and management; ensure milestones and deliverables are met.

• To prepare design detailed electrical BOQ, technical specifications, technical data sheet for all electrical LV, MV and HT equipment and ancillaries
• To handle electrical contractor, check & approve shop drawings/site visit whenever required
• Coordinate with other discipline leads, project management team and client for execution of EPC type power projects
• Electrical system modelling including grounding, load flow, short-circuit, and arc-flash analysis using standard electrical engineering software tools like ETAP, SKM, CDEGS, etc
• Protective relay setting development, calculation, and coordination studies
• Developing equipment specifications, procuring, reviewing vendor drawings and factory acceptance testing electrical equipment
• Preparing engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules
• Preparing/creating electrical deliverables like one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, interconnection drawings, equipment layouts, cable schedules, panel schedules, power, grounding, and lighting layouts for constructing/installation of new or modifications of existing power generating facility electrical systems
• Get involve in coordination with clients, vendors or management team
• To take instruction from Lead Engineer
• To understand the job activities, Project specific requirement and time schedule
• To prepare Electrical Design basis
• To make use of all relevant software available within the group such that the work carried out is cost effective and result in trouble free plant operation
• Perform in accordance with the relevant department procedures, company procedures
• Shall be familiar with all applicable specifications and other technical requirements such that vendor’s interpretation is verified
• Ensure man-hours and milestones are achieved for all tasks performed. If this is not possible due to any reasons, then the Lead Engineer shall be informed such that corrective action can be taken
• Maintain effective communication within the task force member, save the all correspondence / document in respective working folder of Project locker, such that they can be easily used by others in his absence. To prepare DCI of the project, updating DCI for progress reporting
• To fill Document checklists for the deliverables
• To ensure that targets are met
• To prepare all working specification, schedule, cost estimate, calculations, BOQ
• To Check Vendor offer, preparing TBA & Vendor drawing approval
• Ensure all specifications and other documents are concise and to the point
• On matters with any form of commercial involvement always liaise with Project Group before actions are taken
• Ensure all actions are followed up to successful completion
• To liaise with other groups for interface requirements
• To Inspect Electrical item at Vendor works, prepare vendor expediting report

Work Experience & Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited university.
• Minimum 7 years Relevant experience in Electrical design in a consultancy organization for Transmission and Distribution systems - Indoor GIS/Outdoor Switchyards, upto 400kV AC systems.
• Experience with Utility companies based in UK/Europe/Middle east will be preferred. Experience in Design of HV/LV Electrical Systems for Oil & Gas projects would be an added advantage.
• Conversant in Electrical design software – Dialux, ETAP
• Computer literacy in MS office-and basic knowledge of AUTOCAD/3D Modelling Software like Revit is essential.
• Ability to work in independently with lead office as part of integrated team
• Very good written and oral communication skills
• Inclination to use Technology to bring in innovative solutions
• Self-motivated individual with keen interest to learn new skills and add value to the team/organization
• A team player who can also perform autonomously and organize himself.
• Prepared to travel to Belgium if required.
