Job summary

Onward Technologies is seeking an electrical CAD drafter to translate customer requirements into electrical schematics and diagrams. You will prepare general arrangement drawings, single-line and wiring diagrams, ensuring designs align with international standards.

You will collaborate with engineering peers and cross-functional teams to meet customer expectations and support continuous improvement of drafting processes. Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical is required.

Responsibilities

• Understand customer requirements and mechanical/electrical drawings.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams and wiring diagrams.
• Ensure designs meet customer expectations with cross-functional teams.
• Adhere to ANSI, UL, IEEE, IEC standards and know ANSI symbols.
• Apply standard drafting/modelling practices using 2D CAD tools for electrical systems.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders in verbal and written form.
• Understand operation of LV/MV/MCC equipment like transformers, breakers, VFDs, relays, switches.
• Demonstrate hands-on drafting with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Perform control/power cable sizing and component mounting in switchgear; interpret metering and communication protocols.
• Provide input for continuous improvement and perform quality checks to meet Eaton and customer standards.

Job description

• 1. Responsible in understanding customer requirements and mechanical drawings, preparing the general arrangement drawing, Schematic, Single line, three line and Wiring Diagram.
• 2. Work with engineering peers as well as cross-functional personnel to ensure custom designs meet customer expectations
• 3. Ensure adherence to international standards such as ANSI, UL, IEEE, IEC for designing/drafting of electrical circuits and Knowledge of ANSI symbols
• 4. Application of standard industry drafting/modelling practices. Demonstrates proficiency with 2D CAD tools for electrical systems.
• 5. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, customer, team members and cross functional team, both verbal & written
• 6. Responsible in understanding working principles of various LV/MV/MCC equipment like transformer, Circuit breaker, VFD, Soft Starter, relay, switches etc.
• 7. Demonstrate Hands on experience with drafting tools such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
• 8. Perform control/power cable sizing and component mounting in switchgear. Interprets Metering & modes of communication (communication protocols)
• 9. Provide input and feedback for continuous improvement of processes and systems Perform Quality Checks to ensure drawings meet Eaton and customer standards / requirements
