Job summary

Johnfinlay is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead design activities for industrial/EPC projects. You will prepare load calculations, SLDs, cable sizing, equipment sizing, and BOQs, coordinating HT/LT systems and coordinate with vendors.

Applicants should have BE/BTech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering and extensive hands-on experience (24 years) in industrial projects, with proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical drawings, and a strong grasp of industry standards and safety.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering required.
• 24 years of electrical design experience in industrial/EPC projects.
• Coal washery/CHP/mining/steel/cement experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Proficient in electrical calculations, BOQ preparation, and technical documentation.
• Strong knowledge of HT/LT systems, MCCs/PCCs, and VFDs.

Responsibilities

• Handle complete electrical design activities for industrial/EPC projects.
• Prepare load calculations, SLDs, cable sizing, voltage-drop, and equipment sizing.
• Prepare BOQs, material specifications, electrical estimates, and technical proposals.
• Design and coordinate HT/LT systems, MCCs, PCCs, transformers, motors, VFDs, DG systems, lighting, and earthing.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.
• Coordinate electrical design with mechanical, automation, civil, procurement, and vendors.
• Review vendor drawings, specifications, and electrical equipment documents.
• Ensure designs comply with standards, specs, and safety requirements.
• Support project and commissioning teams with design clarification and technical support.
• Identify design issues and provide practical, technically sound solutions.

• Prepare BOQs, material specifications, electrical estimates, and technical proposals.


• Design and coordinate HT/LT systems, MCCs, PCCs, transformers, motors, VFDs, DG systems, lighting, and earthing systems.


• Prepare and review electrical single-line diagrams, schematic drawings, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.


• Coordinate electrical design requirements with mechanical, automation, civil, procurement, and vendors.


• Review vendor drawings, technical specifications, and electrical equipment documents.


• Ensure designs comply with applicable industrial standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.


• Support project and commissioning teams by providing design clarification and technical support whenever required.

• Experience in electrical calculations, estimation, BOQ preparation, and technical documentation.


• Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical drawing preparation.


• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.


• Knowledge of industrial electrical standards and practices.


• Knowledge of PLC/SCADA and automation interfaces will be an advantage.


• Good coordination and communication skills.

Qualification & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Electrical Engineering.


• 24 years of experience in electrical design for industrial/EPC projects.


• Experience in coal washery, CHP, mining, steel, cement, power, material handling, or other industrial projects will be preferred.


• Coal washery experience is not mandatory.
