Job summary

Virginia Transformer India (VTI) is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with strong knowledge of power transformer design to join our Hyderabad team. You will work on transformer design, CAD drawings, BOMs, and electrical analyses to deliver reliable transformer solutions.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, and sales, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with industry standards, dielectric and thermal criteria, and project

Responsibilities

• Apply industry standards and engineering practices to transformer design.
• Prepare quotation designs for Sales and review with Engineering Manager.
• Perform electrical design to ensure reliability under dielectric, thermal and short‑circuit conditions.
• Design large power transformers and autotransformers per project specs.
• Create accurate design drawings and maintain BOMs.

Electrical Design Engineer – Power Transformers

Role: Electrical Design Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer who has strong knowledge of power transformer design and is passionate about engineering, problem-solving, and delivering reliable transformer solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Transformer Design & Engineering

• Apply relevant industry standards and engineering practices in the design and manufacturing of various types of power transformers.
• Prepare quotation designs for the Sales team, ensuring designs are technically sound and ready for review by the Engineering Manager/Supervisor.
• Perform electrical design activities to ensure transformer reliability during dielectric, thermal, and short-circuit conditions.
• Work on the design of large power transformers and autotransformers using appropriate engineering tools and industry standards.
• Select appropriate design parameters based on project requirements, specifications, and engineering judgment.

Design Documentation & CAD

• Prepare accurate and detailed design drawings using CAD systems and other relevant engineering software.
• Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOM) for core and coil assemblies.
• Take ownership of electrical advance material ordering (AO), design, and packaging activities.
• Ensure all design documentation meets project specifications and quality requirements.

Design Review & Quality

• Review designs prepared by other electrical designers for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
• Ensure all assigned design activities are completed within the defined project schedules and timelines.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail throughout the design process.

• Strong experience in Electrical Design of Power Transformers.
• Good understanding of transformer design principles, industry standards, and testing requirements.
• Experience with power transformers will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of transformer electrical components, design calculations, BOM preparation, and engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in relevant CAD/design software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Good communication and technical documentation skills.
• Willingness to mentor and support junior engineers.
