Job Description
To lead and manage the organization’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, safe operations, environmental sustainability, risk reduction, and continuous improvement across electronics manufacturing and associated operations.
HSE Management/Process Safety, Safety Audits & Inspection, Statutory Compliance Reporting & Documentation, Liaison & Coordination, Gap Analysis/Risk Assessment, Waste Management, Hazard Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to prevailing EHS policies, procedures, and annual improvement plans.
- Build a proactive safety culture across manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and support functions.
- Establish EHS KPIs and monitor performance.
2. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental and occupational safety regulations.
- Liaise with statutory authorities for inspections, audits, approvals, and reporting.
- Maintain required permits, licenses, and records.
3. Occupational Health & Safety
- Lead hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA/JSA).
- Drive implementation of safety controls and permit-to-work systems.
- Manage incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Oversee contractor safety and visitor safety management.
- Ensure compliance in:
- Air emissions
- Wastewater management
- Hazardous waste disposal
- Chemical handling
- Resource efficiency initiatives
- Lead sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
5. Electronics Manufacturing Safety
- Ensure EHS controls for:
- SMT and PCB assembly lines
- Soldering operations
- Chemical storage and handling
- ESD-controlled production environments
- Clean rooms and testing labs
- Battery handling and storage
- EMC/EMI and electrical safety practices
- Implement machine safety and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Develop emergency response plans.
- Conduct fire drills, evacuation exercises, and mock emergency scenarios.
- Coordinate with local emergency services.
7. Management Systems
- Lead implementation and certification maintenance for:
- ISO 14001
- ISO 45001
- ISO 50001 (preferred)
- Conduct internal audits and management reviews.
8. Training & Capability Development
- Design and conduct EHS training programs.
- Drive competency development across employees and contractors.
9. Reporting & Governance
- Present EHS performance to leadership.
- Track leading and lagging indicators.
- Prepare monthly and annual compliance reports.
