Job summary

FOY is seeking a Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain server-side applications and APIs that power its products and services. The role focuses on Node.js and Golang, cloud infrastructure, and containerized environments in a fast-paced startup setting.

You will build scalable microservices, optimize performance, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver robust features for storefront, checkout, catalog, inventory, and orders using Medusa.js and related tech.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and Golang.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Hands-on Docker and containerized deployments.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Prior experience building or maintaining e-commerce backends.
• Familiarity with Medusa.js internals or comparable headless commerce platform.

• Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the technology stack.
• Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs for storefront, checkout, catalog, inventory, orders, and post-purchase flows.
• Build on and extend Medusa.js — custom modules, services, subscribers, workflows, and API routes.
• Write clean, well-tested Node.js / TypeScript code.
• Design relational schemas and write strong, efficient SQL — complex queries, joins, indexing, and query optimization; own migrations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4–8 years of experience in backend development.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Node.js and Golang.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Strong understanding of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
• Knowledge of Git, version control systems, and collaborative development workflows.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Strong debugging, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
• Prior experience building or maintaining e-commerce / online retail backends.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Git-based collaborative workflows.
• Preferred / Bonus Skills
• Deep familiarity with Medusa.js internals (modules, workflows, subscribers, event bus).
• Experience with high‑traffic or D2C e‑commerce.
• Familiarity with Docker for local development
• Hands‑on experience with Medusa.js strongly preferred — or a comparable headless / composable commerce platform (commercetools, Saleor, Vendure, Shopify), with a genuine willingness to go deep on Medusa..

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Familiarity with Redis, message queues, and caching mechanisms.
• Experience in high‑traffic or SaaS applications.
• Knowledge of serverless architecture and cloud‑native development.
• Experience working in startups or fast‑growing technology companies.
