Job Description: eCommerce Application Architect

Location: Hyderabad, India (preferred) or Remote

What we need:

• Expertise in BE architecture - java stack (monolithic currently and move to domain driven database solutions)
• Current architecture: PHP, Pimcore, java on BE, microservices, Azure, couchbase & Mysql DB, kafka, rest and graphQL
• New architecture: remove pimcore and move into domain driven microservices backend; temporal frameworks, postgres, normal java, springboot
• Domain: ecommerce so needs to have knowledge/understanding

Overview:

Client is seeking a highly skilled Application Architect to join our team to help with the design and re-architecture of our B2B eCommerce application. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing architectural solutions that align with our organization’s technology and business strategies. You will collaborate with various teams, guiding them in building scalable, high-performing applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Architectural Design: Lead the architectural design of eCommerce applications, ensuring that solutions are scalable, secure, and meet business requirements.
• Support Commercial Application Architecture: Collaborate with end-to-end architects for B2B Pepsi Connect, Pepsi Loyalty, and Marketing and Media.
• B2B Pepsi Connect: Assist in rearchitecting the application to meet growing demands, including upcoming integrations with PBNA, PFNA, and Mexico.
• Define Development Guidelines: Define development guidelines and standards to be utilized in application development and integration.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers and business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Evaluate Tools and Technologies: Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality product platform.
• Analyze Current Architecture: Analyze the current IT ecosystem application architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements.
• Integration Methods: Develop methods to integrate systems that interact and extend across organizational and functional lines.
• Enforce Design Principles: Define, document, and enforce software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Mentorship: Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to development teams, ensuring adherence to architectural principles.
• Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability.
• Risk Management: Identify and address technical risks, constraints, and dependencies throughout the application lifecycle.
• Alignment with Enterprise Strategy: Ensure alignment of architecture and design with the overall enterprise architecture strategy.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and optimize performance.

Required Skills & Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant software development and engineering leadership experience.
• 7+ years of experience in architecting fault-tolerant, high-scale distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.
• Experience with front-end and back-end development technologies, including but not limited to Java, Python, React, Angular, or similar.
• Proven experience with data modeling, database design (SQL and NoSQL), and integration patterns.
• Strong understanding of security, performance, and compliance requirements in application design.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and innovative solutions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in enterprise application integration and working with APIs (RESTful, GraphQL), and resilient workflow management frameworks such as Temporal.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
• Prior experience in the financial services, healthcare, or e-commerce industry is a plus.
• Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect) or related fields.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong leadership skills with a focus on driving results.
• Ability to adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
