Job summary

Surbana Jurong in Papua New Guinea is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our Road and Highway Infrastructure Project team. You will provide geotechnical engineering expertise throughout planning, investigation, design, construction supervision and risk management.

The role supports delivery of safe, sustainable and resilient transportation infrastructure in challenging terrain with emphasis on highway drainage, hydraulic analysis, cross-drainage design and compliant reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, preferably at Master's level.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in hydraulic analysis for road/highway projects, requirement of drainage and system design in compliance with environmental regulations, preferably for projects financed by MDBs.
• Good communication in English Language

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze highway drainage systems, including roadside drains, culverts, channels, and stormwater networks.
• Conduct hydraulic and drainage assessments for roads, highways, bridges, and associated infrastructure.
• Prepare drainage reports, hydraulic calculations, design drawings, and technical specifications.
• Design cross-drainage structures including culverts, causeways, and flood relief structures.
• Develop erosion and sediment control measures for road construction and operation.
• Evaluate climate change impacts on drainage infrastructure and recommend resilient design solutions.
• Ensure compliance with project standards, local regulations, and international design guidelines.
