Job summary

MEICON Group is hiring an Electrical Draftsman to support U.S. transit-oriented projects from our Hyderabad office.

You will produce detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and single-line diagrams using MicroStation and AutoCAD, coordinating with multiple engineering disciplines and U.S.–based teams. The ideal candidate has 5–9 years of electrical drafting experience, strong MicroStation skills, and a background in infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5–9 years of electrical drafting experience, preferably on infrastructure or transit projects.
• Strong MicroStation proficiency is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical drawings (single-line diagrams, layouts, cable routing) for transit-oriented projects.
• Develop drawings using MicroStation, AutoCAD, and related drafting tools.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, architectural, mechanical teams across India and the U.S.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision histories, and ensure compliance with standards.
• Assist with BOQ preparation and design documentation updates.
• Review and incorporate client comments, RFIs, and site information into drawings.

About the Role

MEICON is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Draftsman to support drafting and documentation activities for transit-oriented projects.

The selected candidate will prepare detailed electrical drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams, cable-routing plans, and construction documentation using MicroStation and AutoCAD. The role requires close coordination with electrical engineers, multidisciplinary project teams, project managers, and site personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical drawings for transit-oriented projects, including:
• Single-line diagrams
• Power-distribution layouts
• Lighting and emergency-lighting layouts
• Panel and equipment schedules
• Cable layouts and routing plans
• Earthing, grounding, and bonding layouts
• Conduit, cable-tray, and trench-routing plans
• Electrical-room and equipment layouts
• Fire-alarm and life-safety system layouts
• Communications and low-voltage system layouts
• Develop and modify electrical drawings using MicroStation, AutoCAD, and other relevant drafting platforms.
• Convert engineering sketches, technical markups, field information, and design inputs into accurate drawings.
• Prepare existing-condition, demolition, proposed-work, phasing, and as-built drawings.
• Update drawings based on engineering reviews, client comments, design changes, RFIs, and site conditions.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and other project disciplines.
• Identify and resolve drawing discrepancies in coordination with engineers and project managers.
• Follow client-specific CAD standards, title-block requirements, file-naming conventions, annotation standards, and submission procedures.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision histories, version control, and organized documentation records.
• Perform quality checks before submission to ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated, and complete.
• Assist with quantity take-offs, material take-offs, and preparation of Bills of Quantities.
• Support the preparation of design packages, construction documents, record drawings, and closeout documentation.
• Participate in technical and design-review meetings and incorporate feedback within established timelines.
• Coordinate with India- and U.S.-based teams across multiple project assignments.
• Ensure drawings comply with relevant electrical codes, safety requirements, and project standards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Approximately 5–9 years of electrical drafting experience, preferable on infrastructure or transit-oriented projects.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in MicroStation is mandatory.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and other relevant electrical drafting tools.
• Experience supporting U.S.-based infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, cable routing, conduits, trays, panels, and equipment layouts.
• Ability to prepare and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical plans, schematics, schedules, and construction details.
• Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEC, and IS requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, technical markups, field sketches, and multidisciplinary drawings.
• Experience preparing drawing packages, sheet sets, title blocks, CAD templates, and revision records.
• Experience with quantity take-offs and BOQ preparation is beneficial.
• Familiarity with BIM tools such as Revit or Navisworks is an added advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy and document quality.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet project deadlines.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and documentation-management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to collaborate professionally with engineers, project managers, site personnel, and multidisciplinary teams in India and the United States.

• The ideal candidate is an experienced electrical drafting professional with strong MicroStation skills and familiarity with infrastructure or transit-oriented projects. The candidate should be capable of producing accurate technical drawings, managing revisions, coordinating across disciplines, and consistently meeting project-quality requirements.
