Job summary

Frido in Pune, India is seeking a drafting engineer to maintain, update and own all design documentation for the R&D team. You will produce fabrication and assembly drawings for prototypes and production parts, apply tolerances and GD&T, and manage multi-level BOMs with accurate revision control.

The role requires 1–3 years of detailing experience in manufacturing, strong sheet metal and weldment detailing skills, proficiency in SolidWorks, and the ability to coordinate with vendors and internal

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of detailing and drawing release experience in a product company.
• Strong in sheet metal, tube bending and weldment detailing, including weld symbols and fabrication sequence.
• Working knowledge of GD&T with datum selection reflecting fixturing and welding.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD — drawings, configurations and large assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Own part numbering and change control for the mobility range.
• Maintain the central CAD and drawing archive with version control.
• Prepare prototype build and assembly documentation for the workshop.
• Support sourcing and QC with drawings, inspection dimensions and specification clarifications.

• Apply tolerances and GD&T in consultation with the design owner.
• Create and maintain multi-level BOMs, kept in sync with the released CAD model.
• Issue drawing revisions on every design change and confirm vendors are working to the current revision.
• Set up and maintain drawing standards: title block, tolerance block, weld and finish callouts, drawing numbering and file naming.
• Build a standard CAD library of parts that repeat across the product range — fasteners, tube sections, castors, bearings, actuator envelopes.
• Own part numbering and change control (ECN/ECO) for the mobility range.
• Maintain the central CAD and drawing archive with version control.
• Prepare prototype build and assembly documentation for the workshop.
• Support sourcing and QC with drawings, inspection dimensions and specification clarifications.

Key requirements

• 1 to 3 years of detailing and drawing release experience in a product company — automotive seating, material handling, furniture, medical equipment or similar.
• Strong in sheet metal, tube bending and weldment detailing, including weld symbols and fabrication sequence.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, with datum selection that reflects how the part is fixtured and welded.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent parametric CAD — drawings, configurations and large
• Able to build and maintain structured multi-level BOMs.
• Able to produce a drawing a vendor can quote and build without calling back for clarification.
• Comfortable handling vendor queries and deviations directly.

Good to have

• PDM experience, exposure to a formal ECN process, fixture and jig detailing, familiarity with ISO 7176 / ISO 10535 / IEC 60601, injection-molding callouts, ERP part master and BOM upload.
