Job summary

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking an Electrical/ Civil Engineer with 2–5 years of experience to prepare distribution layouts and perform design tasks using ArcGIS, Ocalc, and related tools. You will review submissions, participate in client meetings, and advance in engineering responsibilities under supervision.

The role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in MS Office and CAD tools, and knowledge of overhead construction, easements, and permitting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or civil engineering.
• 2–5 years of experience; transmission & distribution preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication and IT skills.
• Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS tools.
• Knowledge of overhead construction methods and distribution system equipment.
• Understanding of easements, right-of-way, and permitting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work across roles for diverse clients globally.
• Familiarity with design codes such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318 is preferred.

• Prepare distribution layouts, designs in various distribution software's like ArcGIS, Pole foreman, Ocalc, AUD, etc. and reports to be carried out in accordance with relevant codes of practice, standards, regulatory authorities, and clients' requirements. All under a suitable level of supervision from a Experienced/Senior Engineer.
• Carry out appropriate reviews of submissions and provide review reports.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients.
• Willing to advance in career by taking increased engineering design responsibilities by closely working with discipline lead engineer.
• Ensure that all duties are carried out according to the company's Quality Systems Procedures.
• A committed team player able to work on own initiative.
• Self-starter with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to communicate effectively with internal team members and US team members.

Qualifications

Experience Required: 2-5 years

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/civil engineering.
• Prior work experience in transmission & distribution is preferred.

• Computer software knowledge in MS-office, Auto-Cad, MicroStation, Analysis software/ tools, Google Earth, Arc-GIS.
