Versatile.club in Bengaluru is seeking a Director of Design to lead and elevate the design function from its Bangalore base. This is a rare player‑coach role: you will own the craft, stay deeply involved, and build a team that raises the bar with every hire.

You will shape how insurance products are bought, sold, and serviced for thousands of users, collaborating directly with US leadership on truly unsolved problems. It’s a hands-on leadership role with strategic design impact.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on leadership and ability to stay close to craft.
• Strong B2B SaaS design experience required; B2B2C is a plus.
• Experience building and growing a design team of 4–6 designers.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking in spotting and shaping opportunities.
• Comfort working with US companies or in a US product culture.

What You Will Do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a design team of 4 to 6 designers
• Stay hands on: ship high-quality SaaS product design yourself, not just review it
• Discover and sharpen product opportunities alongside product and engineering, not just execute handed-down briefs
• Set and enforce a high design bar across the org through hiring, critique, and craft
• Partner closely with US stakeholders across time zones

What We Are Looking For

• Proven hands‑on design leadership: you enjoy the craft and intend to stay close to it
• Strong B2B SaaS design experience (required); B2B2C exposure is a plus
• Experience managing a team of 4 to 6 designers with a strong hiring track record
• Demonstrated strategic thinking: a history of spotting, shaping, and honing product opportunities
• Experience working with US companies, or strong motivation and readiness to operate in a US product culture
• A portfolio that shows clean, modern desktop SaaS work with clear patterns, a considered aesthetic, and concrete impact callouts. The portfolio itself should feel thoughtfully designed.
