Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior Digital Solution Engineer in Bangalore to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline, executing Advanced Process Control projects from inception through post-audit. You will lead APC technology deployments, support sales with technical input, and help develop proposals within a hybrid work setup.

The role requires extensive APC software experience, plant operations exposure, and a chemical engineering background.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience using commercial APC software (ABB Ability PnC, Honeywell Profit, Aspen DMCplus/DMC3, Yokogawa SMOC).
• Experience in APC, control systems and OPC.
• Complete APC project cycle experience across Chemicals, Energy/Utilities, Refinery/Petrochemicals, Steam & Power generation.

Responsibilities

• Execute Advanced Process Control/Optimizer projects from kick-off to post-audit.
• Lead consultant/engineer for ABB Ability APC technologies across sectors.
• Support sales/marketing to grow APC/Optimizer business and prepare technical proposals.
• Estimate budgets and cost modelling for projects; develop standard productivity tools.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.

The work model for the role is # LI - Hybrid.

This role is contributing to the to the Process Automation business in Energy Industries division based in Bangalore, India You will be mainly accountable for:

• Execute Advanced Process Control/Optimizer projects including assessment, kick-off, pre-test, plant test, design, modeling, configuration, installation, commissioning, and post-audit.
• Implement ABB Ability™ Advanced Process Control/ Optimizer/Loop Performance Monitoring technologies as Lead Consultant/Engineer for any of the following sector - Chemicals and Specialty Chemicals, Energy and Utility, Refinery and Petrochemicals and Fertilizer
• Perform/Participate in Advanced Process Control/ Optimizer studies, proof of concepts/trial evaluation and provide user training.
• Support Sales and Marketing to grow Advanced Process Control/ Optimizer business.
• Assist with technical and Commercial proposals for new projects.
• Estimate Budget, Cost Modelling for a project.
• Shares best practices Lessons-Learned documentation across different projects and disciplines. Develop standard processes and tools for productivity and quality improvement.

Qualifications for the role:

• 10+ years of experience of using the commercial APC software’s such as ABB Ability™ PnC, Honeywell Profit™ Suite, Aspen DMCplus / DMC3, Yokogawa SMOC etc.
• Candidates have experience in plant operations and Expertise in APC, control systems, and Open Platform Communication OPC
• Prior experience of handling a complete APC project cycle from any of the following sectors :
• Chemicals and Specialty Chemicals
• Energy and Utility
• Refinery and Petrochemicals
• Steam and Power Generation
• Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills in the field of advanced process control.
• Experience in estimating engineering efforts and Developing standards, tools for productivity improvement
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related engineering degree. An advanced degree is preferred.
