Job summary

PhantomFX is seeking a Digital Matte Painter to create matte paintings and set extensions, integrating them into live-action or stylized environments. The role requires solid Matte Painting techniques and a strong creative talent.

Candidates should have 2.5+ years as a concept artist, proficiency in Photoshop/Painter, and a deep understanding of anatomy, weapon and costume design. The position emphasizes collaboration, meeting deadlines, and maintaining high-quality visuals.

Qualifications

• 2.5+ years of experience as a concept artist.
• Proficiency with Photoshop, Painter or equivalent 2D/illustration software.
• Good knowledge of traditional painting and drawing techniques.
• Deep understanding of human/creature anatomy, form, shape language, and silhouette.
• Strong knowledge of weapon, armor, fashion and costume design.
• Self-motivated and creative with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to coordinate with the team to meet deadlines.
• Self-initiation in taking up responsibilities to lead tasks to closure.
• Strong creative eye and problem-solving attitude.
• Excellent traditional art skills and good understanding of composition and perspective.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks related to integrating imagery into shots, preserving lighting, perspective, and color consistency.
• Paint photo-real environments and textures for live-action plates or standalone DMP plates.
• Integrate matte paintings into 3D environments.
• Collaborate with live-action footage, photography, and CG elements to create coherent environments.
• Maintain realism aligned with art direction and project schedule.
• Coordinate with Production Coordinator and Art Director to meet timelines.
• Prepare presentation elements for validations and reviews.
• Communicate and search for solutions when needed.
• Maintain a positive team dynamic.

Digital Matte Painters (DMP) areresponsibleforcreating Matte-paintings and set extensions, eitherstandalone or to be integrated into bothphoto-realand stylizedlive-actionenvironments . Thisposition requires a solid understanding of Matte Painting techniques as well asstrong creative talent.

Responsibilities:

• performingtasks related to integrating imagery into shots, preserving a unifiedsense of lighting, perspective, and color
  
• paintingphoto real environments, elements and textures for matching into live actionplates or to stand on their own as DMP plates
  
• integratingmatte paintings into 3D environments
  
• workingwith live action footage, still photography, and CG elements to createenvironments that can be flawlessly integrated into the project
  
• Obtain a level of realism based on the artdirection of the project;
  
• Maintain the schedule given by the ProductionCoordinator;
  
• Perform tasks and corrections given by the ArtDirector by demonstrating analytical skill and pro activity;
  
• Organize the workload and prepare thepresentation elements for validations;
  
• Communicate and search for solutions andinformation when necessary;
  
• Maintain a good team dynamic.
  

Requirements

• 2.5+ years of experience, specificallyworking as a concept artist.
  
• Outstanding level proficiency with Photoshop,Painter or equivalent 2D/illustration software
  
• Good Knowledge of traditional painting anddrawing techniques is a plus;
