Larsen & Toubro invites applications for a Digital Engineer to support IoT-enabled smart manufacturing initiatives at the Hazira Plant. You will assist in implementing machine connectivity, data collection, dashboards, and real-time monitoring across production, maintenance, and quality functions.

The role involves collaboration with the Digital Officer, coordinating sensor installations, configuring gateways, and ensuring smooth ERP/MES integrations while training users and supporting

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Digital Officer in IoT, smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0 initiatives across production, maintenance, quality, energy, safety, stores, and supply chain areas.
  • Coordinate sensor installation, PLC/SCADA data capture, edge connectivity, gateway configuration, and shop-floor data collection.
  • Help develop and maintain digital solutions for machine utilization, OEE tracking, prediction of downtime, energy monitoring, production progress, digital checklists, and quality records.
  • Capture shop-floor requirements, translate pain points into practical digital use cases under guidance.
  • Support integration of IoT and manufacturing apps with ERP, SAP, MES, SharePoint, Power Apps, Power BI, SQL, and other platforms.
  • Monitor data accuracy, system availability, adoption, issue logs, and user feedback for deployed applications.
  • Assist in user training, shop-floor demonstrations, change management, and post-implementation support.

Job description

Role Focus: Assist the Digital Officer in implementing IoT-enabled smart manufacturing, shop-floor digitalization, machine connectivity, real-time monitoring, data collection, dashboarding, and operational improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Digital Officer in executing IoT, smart manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 initiatives across production, maintenance, quality, energy, safety, stores, and supply chain areas.
  • Support machine connectivity activities including sensor installation coordination, PLC/SCADA data capture, edge device connectivity, gateway configuration, and shop-floor data collection.
  • Help develop and maintain digital solutions for machine utilization, OEE, downtime tracking, MTBF/MTBR, predictive maintenance, energy monitoring, production progress, digital checklists, and quality inspection records.
  • Collect shop-floor requirements, understand operational pain points, and assist in converting them into practical digital use cases under the guidance of the Digital Officer.
  • Support integration of IoT and manufacturing applications with ERP, SAP, MES, SharePoint, Power Apps, Power BI, SQL databases, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Monitor data accuracy, system availability, adoption levels, issue logs, and user feedback for deployed digital manufacturing applications.
  • Assist in user training, shop-floor demonstrations, change management, and post-implementation support activities.
Key Skills And Competencies
  • Basic to good understanding of manufacturing processes, shop-floor operations, industrial equipment, machine data, production flow, maintenance practices, and operational KPIs.
  • Working knowledge of IoT concepts, sensors, controllers, gateways, industrial networks, databases, dashboards, and analytics tools.
  • Hands-on ability to support data collection, dashboard preparation, application testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and user support.
  • Good coordination, communication, documentation, reporting, and follow-up skills.
Qualification And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Electronics, Instrumentation, Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, Production Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in digital manufacturing, IoT support, industrial automation, IT/OT systems, application support, reporting, or manufacturing process digitalization.
Reporting and Work Posting
  • The Digital Engineer shall report to the Digital Officer.
  • Digital Engineer shall assist the Digital Officer in all digital manufacturing, IoT, smart factory, dashboarding, integration, user support, training, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Digital Engineer shall be based out of LMTG Hazira Plant.
