Job summary

Volvo Group in Bengaluru seeks a Diagnostics Engineer and Test Developer to define and develop operations for automotive products, ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards. You will manage test infrastructure, support test activities, and release product structures downstream, collaborating across global teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in automotive embedded software, strong diagnostic protocol knowledge (CAN/LIN/Ethernet/UDS) and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of automotive embedded software development, integration or verification.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics protocols CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SOVD, and UDS.
  • Hands-on ESW diagnostics, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management in a global context.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop operations for the specific product based on requirements.
  • Create KOLA documentation for developed operations with proper I-V linking and release process.
  • Plan and support test activities, methods, and builds.
  • Manage the Mini Factory (Lab) and manufacturing test infrastructure.
  • Define technical/diagnostic requirements and recommend manufacturing solutions.
  • Approve product structure releases to downstream systems.
  • Evaluate Development Loops and recommend project gate readiness.

The Department of Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing new technologies to support our factories' requests and needs.We are now looking for a Diagnostics Engineer and Test Developer (DETD).


What you will do

You will define and develop the needed operations for the specific product based on:



  • Electrical and electronic assembly verification requirements.

  • Impact assessment for new product functionalities.

  • Manufacturing process requirements specific to the concerned factory.

  • Product calibration requirements.

  • Technical Regulations (TRs) issued by Product Development or system suppliers.

  • Applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Product compliance with manufacturing standards and quality requirements.

  • Identification of manufacturing constraints and process impacts before implementation.


You will create documentation and release processes such as:



  • KOLA documentation for developed operations with proper I-V linking and release process.

  • Support MSM for Manufacturing Requirement specification


You are accountable for operation development, verification, and release to production by performing important tasks such as:



  • Manage the Mini Factory (Lab) and manufacturing test infrastructure.

  • Plan and support test activities, methods, and builds.

  • Define technical/diagnostic requirements and recommend manufacturing solutions.

  • Define and communicate fixture/tool requirements.

  • Assess product impact on manufacturing processes and support impact analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing technical and strategic requirements.

  • Approve product structure releases to downstream systems.

  • Manage Protus (PIL) reporting and manufacturing project follow-up.

  • Evaluate Development Loops and recommend project gate readiness.


Who are you?


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive embedded software development, integration, or verification.

  • Strong knowledge of automotive communication and diagnostics protocols, including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SOVD, and UDS.

  • Strong hands-on experience in Embedded Software (ESW) diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

  • Good understanding of the automotive industry, with experience in strategy development and execution.

  • Strong interest in emerging automotive technologies and continuous innovation.

  • Basic understanding of embedded systems and automotive software architecture.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and negotiation abilities.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective cross-functional and global networks.

  • Open-minded with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

  • Self-driven, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
