Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Hyderabad is seeking a DevOps/SRE professional to manage Chef cookbooks, automate deployments, and maintain Chef Automate on AWS.

You will monitor CI/CD pipelines, ensure high availability, and collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to uphold security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Chef Cookbook creation: creating new cookbooks for new OS, Windows and Linux, deployment for MS SQL and MongoDB, and automated cookbooks testing.
• Maintain existing Chef Recipes: keep recipes in working state, update for releases/patches, monitor ticketing queue, remediate issues, and manage Chef dashboard problems.
• Maintain Chef Automate on Paramount Cloud: manage Chef on AWS EC2, upgrades, DR configuration, initiate DR, ensure cookbooks promote across environments.

Role & responsibilities

• Chef Cookbook creation
  • Previous experience in creating new cookbooks for new operating systems
  • Previous experience in creating cookbooks for both Windows and Linux
  • Previous experience in creating cookbooks for application deployment such as MS SQL, MongoDB.
  • Previous experience with automated cookbook testing.
• Maintain existing Chef Recipes
  • For all existing Chef recipes the team should maintain them in a working state. Update them as necessary to keep up with latest software releases and patches
  • Monitor ticketing queue for Chef related trouble tickets that come in and remediate the issues
  • If the Chef dashboard is reporting any issues, the team should create a trouble ticket for it and remediate it on their own
• Maintain Chef Automate software running on Paramount Cloud infrastructure
  • We installed Chef on AWS EC2 and we maintain that software and upgrades to it. The team should be able to maintain this and upgrade when necessary
  • There is also DR configured for Chef and the team should be able to initiate DR and support our configuration
  • Make sure cookbooks are promoted across environments when deployed.

Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth and efficient code deployments.

System Monitoring and Maintenance

Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of infrastructure.

Collaboration

Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to streamline processes and improve collaboration.

Security and Compliance

Ensure that infrastructure complies with security standards and best practices.
